The world is one big factory, and it’s an amazing thing to behold when you break it down.

Hello everyone! Welcome to today’s pronunciation challenge. This’s your host Estelle. Have you ever dream about seeing the future? Knowing what would happen in our lives in another ten years sounds fascinating, doesn’t it? What if I told you I knew exactly what would happen in the next minute? About 250(two hundred and fifty) people will be born, another 105(one hundred and five) people will die, and 116(one hundred and sixteen) people will get married, 400(four hundred) people will sign up Facebook, and Macdonald will sell 4500(four thousand and five hundred) burgers. See, l have mastered my ability to predict the future. And I’ll tell you a secret, the lottery numbers for next Monday will be 5, 11, 27, and…Just kidding! I have no idea what would happen in the future. [[ If only l could]] tell the lottery numbers...But all of above except the lottery numbers are true facts. According to today’s video, it’s a fun video telling us all things that will occur in the next sixty seconds. And I can certainly tell you this, in another second we will look at our sentence of the day.

1. factory [ˋfæktərɪ ] (n.) 工廠
It is a building or set of buildings where large amounts of goods are made using machines.
* The little boy’s dream job is to work at the chocolate factory.
This makes me think of the film Charlie and chocolate factory. It’s a really good movie. There are so many kinds of colorful and mouth-watering sweets in the movie that l can’t help getting hungry every time I watch it. Until this day, I still dream of walking at Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.

2.1 amaze [əˋmez] v. 使大為驚奇,使驚訝
It means to cause someone to be extremely surprised.
* The fact that the 5-year-old girl can fluently speak 5 languages amazes everyone.

2.2 amazing [əˋmezɪŋ] (adj.) 驚人的,令人驚喜的
Amazing is the present participle of amaze. And it can be used as an adjective to mean causing astonishment([əˋstɑnɪʃmənt]驚愕), great wonder, or surprise.
* Last night’s concert was amazing, we had a great time enjoying the live music.

2.3 amazed [əˋmezd] adj. 感到十分驚奇的,驚愕的
The past participle of amaze is amazed, it also be used as an adjective to mean feeling or showing great surprise or wonder.
* I’m amazed by the breathtaking scenery on the top of the mountain.

3.1 behold [bɪˋhold] (v.)看見,注視
It means to gaze upon to see or look at someone or something.
* Only few had a chance to behold the extraordinary([ɪkˋstrɔrdn͵ɛrɪ] 驚奇的) sight of the Earth from out space.
* Sunset by the wetland is a fabulous sight to behold.

3.2. Behold is often used in the imperative([ɪmˋpɛrətɪv]命令n.), especially to call attention. So when a magician is trying to call the attention of the audience, he may shout “behold!” like this.
* Behold!(= Look! 看啊!) The Statue of Liberty will disappear in the next minute.

4.1 break down 分解
It means to separate something into simpler substances.
* We have to break down how to use our app into smaller steps to help users understand better.

4.2 break down 破壞,使瓦解
To break down something can also mean to cause something to fall or collapse by breaking or shadowing.
* The purpose of this meeting is to break down the barriers between the two countries and forge([fɔrdʒ] v. 鍛鍊) a reliable partnership.

4.3 break down (不及物動詞) (機器)故障,失靈
Break down can also be used as an intransitive verb. If something breaks down it means that it stop functioning because of breakage or [[wear (n.) 磨損,損耗]].
* Our car suddenly broke down and we’re stuck in the middle of nowhere.

4.4 break down 瓦解,崩壞
When break down is used as an intransitive verb, it can also mean to fail in strength or vitality([vaɪˋtælətɪ]活力).
* Her mental health broke down due to the countless hateful comments people have made about her.

4.5 break down (人)情緒崩潰
If someone breaks down, it means that he or she [[ succumbs to ]] mental or emotional stress and isn’t able to control his or her feelings.
* The old man broke down and cried upon hearing the death of his son.

4.6 breakdown (n.)
Breakdown becomes a noun when it’s written as one word, it means a failure to function, or a failure to progress or have an effect.
* The breakdown of negotiations [[kept the ]] two companies from reaching a deal.

The world really is huge, with all the things happen in every minute of every day. Our troubles and worries seem smaller. And it’s actually not that bad not to know what the future [[holds.]] That’s what makes us look forward to [[unexpected]] journey that will come along. That’s what make us cheers every moment, and that’s what makes our lives exciting and fun.
