What’s up, VoiceTubers! My name is Ingrid and you’re listening to today’s pronunciation challenge. Life is hard sometimes. We have so much to worry about. Our grades, our family, our relationships, our pets, our plans( [plæn] 計劃), or our plants( [plænt] 植物). We are blessed to have human brain that can do multiple things. We have great memory and the ability to use logic. We can even decide parts of our future using the power of the brain. We have the imagination to wonder about life, about possibilities or about how are spouses(spouse[spaʊz]配偶) might be cheating on us. We can think about so much but that could be our downfall(衰敗). Sometimes we get overwhelmed, your mom is having a health problem, you’re trying to plan your future, your crush is not noticing you, the cactus([ˋkæktəs]仙人掌) on your table is dying. How was it even possible for cactus to die that easily? All those things and a few other things combined and now you are officially a total mess. So how to stop feeling like this? How to stop screaming into your pillow or crying when you wake up in the morning? This video today has the solution. And as the master of anxiety and struggles, l know that this video will benefit you because it help me when I watch it. So go see that video if you want some peace. Before that though, let’s practice today’s sentence.

1. responsibility [rɪ͵spɑnsəˋbɪlətɪ]( n.)職責,責任
It means something that it is your job, or your duty to deal with.
* Getting a pet means you need to take care of it, it’s your responsibility now.

2-1. actively [ˋæktɪvlɪ] (adv.)積極地
It means in a way that involves positive action.
* He’s actively working on changing his bad habit as it’s(=it has) really annoyed his friends.

2-2. active [ˋæktɪv] (adj.) 忙於⋯,參與⋯
The original word for actively is active. It means busy with a particular activity, or involved in a particular activity.
* She’s not active online right now, I think she’s having a lunch break.
* An active volcano(活火山) is one that might erupt.

2-3. act [ækt] (v.)
It means to behave in the stated(指定的) way, or to do something for a particular purpose or to solve a problem, or to perform a part in a film, play, etc.
1) act [ækt] (v .) 行為,行事;舉止,表現 = to behave in the stated(指定的) way.
* Do you know what’s going on with John? He’s been acting weird all morning.

2) act [ækt] (v .)做事;採取行動= to do something for a particular purpose or to solve a problem
* Just because he said that he wanted to punch him in the face doesn’t mean that he’ll act on it.

3) act [ækt] (v .)演出;扮演,飾演 = to perform a part in a film, play, etc.
* Hilary Duff has been acting since she was a child. She’s in her thirties now and she has two kids.

2-4. act [ækt] (n.)
It can mean something that you do. Or a person or group that performs a short piece in a show, or the piece that they perform. Or it can mean a part of a play or opera.
1) act [ækt] (n.)行為;作為;所做之事 = something that you do.
* A simple act such as opening the door for her was how he won her heart.

2) act [ækt] (n.)表演者(或表演組合) ; 一段表演 = a person or group that performs a short piece in a show, or the piece that they perform.
* I’m preparing a sword swallowing act to an audition for Asia’s Got Talent.

3) act [ækt] (n.)(戲劇或歌劇的)幕 = a part of a play or opera.
My character dies on act one of this play. Which is why l don’t like this role at all.

3-1. deal [dil] (v.)做生意,出售;經營;買賣
It means to do business.
She’s been caught dealing drugs to college students and was arrested yesterday.

3-2. deal [dil] (n.)(尤指商業上的)協議,交易
It means an agreement or an arrangement, especially in business.
* We made a business deal with the famous AI company. We’ll be working together for the next two years.

Deal with sth. (處理,動手解決) is a phrase, which means to take action in order to achieve something or in order to solve a problem.
動詞變化 deal [dil] dealt [dɛlt] dealt
* This is how we dealt with the rat problem we had, we moved out and let the rat have the apartment.
