1. booze [buz] (n.) 酒
It is actually the slang for the word “alcoholic”. And you can say drink or have booze.
* He drank a lot of booze at home before going to the bar to save money.
You have to be careful when you use the phrase “have booze”, because sometimes it means drink booze, but sometimes it means you own a booze.
Booze is a verb as well, that means to drink alcohol.
And there’s one vocabulary relating to the word booze, that is boozer, it means either a pub or a person who drinks a lot of booze.
2. digestive [daɪˋdʒɛstɪv] (adj.)
It means relating to or functioning in digestion. For example, digestive system.
* The functions of the human digestive system are breaking down food and allowing us to utilize(利用[ˋjut!͵aɪz]) food as a source of energy.
The verb for digestive is digest. In addition to digest food, you can also digest a book, or information, that means you take the book into the mind or memory.
And the noun for digestive is digestion. The word is about the ability of digesting. If you can digest food very well, you can say good digestion. But on the contrary, if you can’t digest food very well, you can say poor digestion.
3. tidal [ˋtaɪd!] (adj.)
Tidal is an adjective. The definition for tidal is of relating to cause by or having tides. For example, tidal cycle. And if you’re using this vocabulary, you have to be careful that this is totally different from the word tsunami, so from the scientific perspective(觀點), the cause of tsunami and the cause of tidal wave is just different. So don’t mix that up.
* The tidal cycle is affected by the gravitational(重力的) forces of the moon and the sun.
