Note:
Hello, everyone, this is Helena. Welcome to today’s pronunciation challenge.Today’s topic is self-love. Have you ever encountered moment of self doubt that almost push you to edge to breaking down? Have you ever asked yourself questions like why can you be better, smarter, or prettier? I have. Self-love is something I found pretty difficult to achieve but it’s extremely important. I always think that if I could love myself more, maybe I can be more confident, braver, and happier. But what is exactly we need to do to be able to love ourselves? In this video, Anna introduces her ways to improve her ability to love herself. She is journaling to combat the negativity(消極) and emotional moment. I also tried this method before, whenever I feel down, whenever I’m having a bad day, I write all my negative emotions and thoughts in the notebook. I always feel better afterwards. Before we continue to dig into this topic, let’s practice today’s sentence first.

Speaking of metal health issue, I’ve joined a school club called “peer(同儕)supporter”. It is composed of a group students trained by a counselor(諮商師) to become a listener of their peers. This club I learned a lot about mental health issues and how to be an active listener. We also learned a lot about how to take care of ourselves’ like how to live a mentally healthy lifestyle. So being able to love ourselves, self-loving is one of the very important things.
Lastly, I want to share with you my way to feel better on bad days. Whenever I feel like it was the worst day of my life, I would ask myself to think of three things I appreciate it today. For example, today for three I’m thankful to my shoes weren’t getting wet in the rain in the morning. Secondly, I want to say thank you to my grandma who cooks delicious dinner for me. Thirdly, I feel lucky to live in a safe city where I don’t need to worry about being rubbed or attacked on the street. Sounds a bit silly ,but it’s pretty effective for me. After I thought about these things, I would feel stronger about the fact that I’m indeed lucky person with a pretty good life. Then my worries, my self doubts, or complaints would slowly go away. Self-love is a issue that I am always trying to get rid off for years. For me, the definition of self-love is still a mystery. I work hard and try to provide myself a better material life as a reward. But somehow I still can not keep it in balance. The stress from work keeps to push me to the edge. The only way I can earn my confidence back is to talk to my friend. Even though they can not give me any advice, they just sit there and be a good listener. While I am talking my own worries and unhappiness, my mind gets clearer. And somehow I will feel relieved after that.
