The Hockey Stop is one of the basic movements in skiing and something that will open up a whole new era on your skiing journey.

In this video, I'm gonna share some of my best tips for you to practice and learn the Hockey Stop fast.

Adverbs of manner

The Hockey Stop is an awesome move that you can use to stop very quickly.

Whenever you want to practice the Hoggy Stop, you start out by skiing straight down the hill.

Choose an almost flat slope to keep the speed down.

Bend your knees and assume a deep position in good balance.

As you feel light, twist your legs as you and be ready to stand strong on your downhill ski when you land.

Just remember, a Hoggy Stop is a Hoggy putz.

Prepare Up, Twist and Stop Prepare Up, Twist and Stop.

To help you achieve the Hockey Stop, you can practice the tail lift and and set exercise.

Lift the tail of the offhill ski as you move up.

As you move down, set the lifted foot down right next to the foot you're balancing on.

If you're very athletic and strong, you can experiment with an exaggerated jump like I do here.

I also want to share a bonus tip with you.

Once you get the Hoggy Stop, it offers a shortcut to short turns.

Start out by doing sequential Hoggy Stops to each side with little to no pause.

Add more and more of a round turn shape to the start movement and keep a bit of speed to start the next turn.

Keep your rubber body and pelvis still and facing down the hill while the legs are moving in the hip sockets.
