+ I’m allergic to contact lens and have no bravery to get my laser eye surgery. So I was totally blind when I was engaged and married back then. Now, I’m shortsighted plus farsighted. Poor me…

NOTE for today:
Have you ever worn contact lenses? I’m sure most of you have worn them before. I’ve never worn contact lenses in my life. Bit before you get jealous, it’s not because I had perfect vision and I don’t need them. No, It’s quite the opposite actually. I was born with amblyopia([͵æmblɪˋopɪə]弱視). My parents found out that I was basically blind when they took me to the zoo when I was a baby. They pointed at cute animals for me to see and I had no reactions. They thought I was either stupid or that I couldn’t see. Don’t know which one is better. It turned out I couldn’t really see.

Long story short, I started wearing glasses when I was 3 years old. I had to wear those thick glasses which make me look different than any of my classmates. In my free time, I would have to train my eyes. As the training went on, my eyes got a lot better. Finally got to ditch my glasses when I went to college. My eyesight would never be like a normal persons, but I’m content with my progress.

I guess what I’m saying is your eyes are really important so we should talk care of them. If you already have bad eyesight and you need to wear contacts, this video today is for you. Before you go watch at video though, let’s practice today’s sentence.

“And surprisingly, l’m a little skeptical on this point, to be honest, using a contact case and a solution from different manufacturers.”

1. skeptical [ˋskɛptɪk!] (adj.) 懷疑的,持懷疑態度的
It means doubting that something is true or useful.
* Although, he said that he told me the whole truth, I remain skeptical. There must be something that he's not telling me.

2-1. contact [ˋkɑntækt] (adj.) 接觸的,接觸傳染的,聯絡的
It means involving or produced by touching or proximity.
+ proximity [prɑkˋsɪmətɪ] n.接近

* Be sure to leave your contact information on the sheet before you go so that we can reach you.

2-2. contact [ˋkɑntækt] (v.) (透過電話或寫電子郵件等)聯繫,聯絡
Contact can also be a verb. It means to communicate with someone by calling or sending them a letter or an email, etc.
* This is my card(名片), if you're up for a drink feel free to contact me.

2-3. contact [ˋkɑntækt] (n.) 1. 接觸;觸摸;碰到 2. 聯繫,聯絡,交往
Contact can also be a noun. It can mean two things. The first one is the fact of two people or things touching each other. And second, communication with someone, especially by speaking or writing to them regularly.
* Lena is not fond of physical contact, not even with her close friends and family.
* She used to be my best friend, we lost contact after she moved to the city.

2-5. contacts = contact lens 隱形眼鏡
It means a small, round, curved piece of transparent plastic, worn on the surface of the eye to improve your eyesight. So it’s basically like glasses but it’s plastic, it’s really thin and you can wear it right on top of the surface of your eye. Or you can also say contact lenses.

3. solution [səˋluʃən] (n.) 1. 溶液 2. 解決辦法;解決方案
There are also two meanings of solution. The first one is a liquid into which a solid has been mixed and has dissolved(溶解). And the second one is the answer to a problem, this one is more common.
* The mad scientist mixed all kinds of liquids together creating a solution that could melt metal.
* The solution to this problem is simple, all you have to do is communicate.

Okay, that’s it guys for today’s pronunciation challenge. Be sure to leave a comment and recording, watch the video for today and then rest your eyes.
