I'm Victoria Loy, and I spend a lot of time here in Vietnam.

Today we're going to journey through the Mekong river delta, a maze of rivers, swamps, and islands.

Over four days, we'll travel between Saigon, Benje, Gyeongta, and Jaodop.

And we're about to hop on a boat and go down the river.

The Mekong river is the heart of Vietnam's farming region.

Boats, houses, and markets all float through the canals and backwaters.

There's plenty of ways to get around on the water, from the many motorboats for hire to tour boats to luxury cruises on land.

Buses, taxis, bicycles, and especially motorbikes are the best way to get from one place to another.

And as you can see, all around me are different boats, and it is a wholesale market.

And the way that you can tell what boat is selling what item is by the quebeo or this tall bamboo stick with props product stuck to the top of it.

We are about to order some hotel for breakfast.

I can't even speak because it's actually so good.

Welcome to the Binh Tuy Ancient House, one of the last remaining Vietnamese, Chinese, French houses here in Gang Phe.

This house is very unique because it combines Eastern feng shui with Western architecture.

And if you look closely, everything is about symmetry.

Today we'll see the Mekong Delta at water level entering the narrow canals aboard a traditional boat called a sampan to immerse in the river's unique nature.

We are at Nui Sam, or the Sam Mountain, in Chaudap, which is along the border of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Nui Sam is the highest mountain in the Mekong Delta region.

And as you can see, all around us are these beautiful green rice paddy fields.

Follow me to go biking along the rice paddy fields.

We're on our way to go learn how to make tofu or rice noodles.

What makes this spot so special is that not only are we using rice flour, it's also mixed with tapioca, giving this very chewy texture.

It marinates in different sauces and different broths.

That's why you have all of these different types of Vietnamese potio soups.

We're heading over to the Tam village, which is home to one of Vietnam's ethnic minority groups.

This is traditional brocade weaving, which is part of the Cham culture.

It's been around for hundreds of years and is known for its unique designs and patterns.

If you're in the Cham village and you're looking for a souvenir, definitely stop by to check out traditional brocade weaving.

The Mekong Delta has lots of rivers and canals, but here is the Jasu forest.

It is known for their green waters, but the water is not actually green.

There's two different types of boats that you can take while here in the forest.

Either a rowing boat like this or a motorboat.

There's so many birds in this forest that I'm honestly in awe because you can, like, look at the trees, and

I feel like I've been to so many different rivers and canals during this trip, but

So far, this has been the Mekong Delta experience.
