  • Hi, everyone. It's Tee.

  • And in this video, I talk about me and my husband's journey and experience using rice water on our skin, which is leftover water from soaked, cooked or fermented rice.

  • I'll share with you the potential benefits, different ways to make it as well as before and after shots of our rice water journey.

  • I love to use natural home remedies on my skin.

  • It's inexpensive and I love the idea of just using one ingredient, especially when that ingredient has so many nutrient-packed components.

  • When I heard the potential benefits of rice water, I thought this was a great opportunity to see if it will work not only on my skin but also on my husband skin.

  • So what are the potential benefits of using rice water?

  • Rice water is rich in antioxidants, amino acids and humectant.

  • You will find a range of vitamins like vitamin A for skin renewal.

  • Vitamin B to strengthen and protect the skin barrier, help with water retention and reduce inflammation.

  • Vitamin C brightens the skin and lightens pigmentation and helps with collagen production.

  • Vitamin E is for cellular restoration and faster healing of scars and burns.

  • In general, rice water can be known to improve the skin's complexion.

  • Many use it as an inexpensive anti-aging treatment alternative and a natural home remedy.

  • It can protect your skin from external environmental factors like UV rays and pollution.

  • You can also use it as a wash for your hair.

  • This ancient technique originated from China's Yao girls who are widely popular for their luxurious long Rapunzel, black hair.

  • Let's look at a few ways to make rice water.

  • First, we use organic white rice.

  • I have not used non-organic.

  • So I can't say if there is a difference.

  • Take a quarter cup of the rice and wash it extremely well.

  • Bring 1.5 cups of water to a boil, place the rice into the boiling water, turn the temperature to low, cover and simmer to cook for 15 minutes.

  • Drain the water from the rice and let it cool.

  • This makes about three tablespoons of rice water which we will now dilute with one cup of water.

  • The rice alone is very potent, so diluting it with water is necessary.

  • Drain and transfer into a spray bottle.

  • The second method is simple. Take half a cup of washed rice and combine it with two cups of filtered water.

  • Let it sit for 1 to 2 hours; strain and transfer into a spray bottle.

  • Method three is fermenting the rice water.

  • Repeat method two, let it ferment for two days in a cool area, you'll know it's well fermented when it smells sour.

  • Drain and transfer into a bottle and refrigerate for an hour to stop the fermentation process.

  • We use method one and this amount of rice water is enough for two.

  • It will last us more than a week.

  • We use it twice a day every day and I like to use it as my toner before the rest of my skin care regimen.

  • We spray a generous amount and let it air dry.

  • Rice water can last up to seven days, after that, it will start to have a sour smell.

  • But if you store it in the fridge, it can last up to two weeks.

  • And now on to the results.

  • Here are the before shots of my skin before I started using rice water.

  • As you can see, my skin has a lot of dark spots and pigmentation.

  • My pores are rather large, it felt uneven and was rough and dry.

  • My hubby's skin is inflamed and red from acne flare ups and one side of his face was red and healing from a burn.

  • And now here are the results after using rice water for three months.

  • The skin is visibly smooth, brighter, hydrated and is overall looking glowing and healthy.

  • I felt a huge difference when I applied makeup to my face.

  • The makeup seemed to look more flawless and less bumpy.

  • The hubby scabs from the burn completely healed in about three weeks and his acne flare ups are completely gone.

  • We think it's worth giving rice water a try.

  • But I encourage you to do more research.

  • We all have different skin types and some may have different reactions when using this ingredient.

  • So would you try adding rice water into your routine?

  • Or comment down below and let me know if you use rice water in your skincare routine and your experience with it.
