Hello, everyone! This’s Helena. Welcome to today’s pronunciation challenge. How do you find motivation? This’s a very big question. I have watched countless videos [[ and speeches teaching us ]] how to stay motivated, or how to find motivation. I did try their methods, and I listened to them as much as I can. But I still had time in life where I don’t wanna do anything. I constantly fall into moments where I just want to lie on my bed, watch Netflix or YouTube. And saying words to myself like, I’ll do it later, or I’ll do it tomorrow. I also went through times while I became super tired of everything, I was so done, and ready to get away from everything. I ran away from my work, my studies, and even my life in general. But there were also periods is that I feel productive and energetic, that’s a life is beautiful and the world is fabulous, and nothing can stop me from moving forward.
I guess maybe these are all part of life, always full of ups and downs. So if we can now accept the fact that our minds is not going to perform at a hundred percent all the time, what do we do to counter these lose of enthusiasm? So now let’s take a look at it together. “ My point here is, you’re not gonna be motivated all the time, and when you do hit that motivation again, ride it, because that’s gonna give the momentum that you need to carry it through the next time you’re not motivated.“ Yes, the secret is exactly inside our sentence today. So let’s take a look at it one more time. This time a little bit slower.
1-1. motivate [ˋmotə͵vet] (v.) 激勵;激發⋯的積極性
It means to make something want to do something well.

It means the movie is not as interesting anymore in the halfway. Lose momentum means it makes people, the audience to lose interest in the movie.
3-1. carry sth. through 成功完成;順利實現
Our last vocabulary of the day is phrasal verb, it’s carry something through. It means to complete something successfully.

There are also some other very commonly used vocabulary that’s related to the word carry. For example, carry-on baggage. The counter in the airport may ask you, Do you have a carry-on? The carry-on means the luggage that you bring it with you on the plane.
3-4. carryout [ˋkærɪ͵aʊt] (美式)
(adj.) (餐食)帶走的;外賣的 (n.) 外賣的餐食
It means the same as takeaway.
+ takeaway (n.)(英美) 外賣的飯食;外賣餐館
So today’s video tells us it’s important to keep going when you’re not motivated. But what exactly can we do to convince ourselves to keep going? I can share some of my experiences. Sometimes, I’ll take a 15-minute nap or shower, it helps me to feel refreshed and allows me to restart, or I play gentle music to build a good working atmosphere. However, the best way for me is always to leave my room, it can be hard to focus when I’m next my bed sometimes. My bed is very tempting and relaxing. So I would go to a coffee shop or a library where other people are also working, but at times, I would say it’s okay to myself too. If I know I’m desperate([ˋdɛspərɪt]極渴望的)for a break, I would write a to-do list for tomorrow, and make sure to get a good rest and sufficient([səˋfɪʃənt]充足的) sleep that day.
So that is my sharing. What are your ways to comeback your laziness? Share your thoughts and leave a comment below, also don’t forget to record today’s challenge and share learning outcomes with your friends. Thank you all for listening and being super supportive all the time. Your comments are my great motivation to improve myself and become a better host. Thank you all again, I wish you for a lovely week, and I’ll see you next Sunday!
