Hello everyone! This’s Helena, welcome to today’s pronunciation challenge. Do you like music? I rarely meet people who don’t listen to music. There’s one big question for music lovers though, how does Spotify or other music apps come up with the songs on their recommendation list? Or how do they know what kind of music you like? This video helps us to solve the key part of the mystery(謎). It says: The recommendation list comes from an algorithm([ˋælgə͵rɪðm] 演算法), which the company use to analyze songs and put them into different categories of emotions. Sounds familiar, right? Facebook probably use the same strategy to sell their Ads and put things we might like on the pages review.

Besides this, the video focuses on the study of the correlation between people’s music choices and economic behavior, which means in simple terms, will the music you listen to affect the things we buy? What’s the result? Watch the music and check it out. But before you do that, let’s take a look at our sentence of the day.

I remember asking my dad: “How did you do research without the Internet? I seriously could not imagine researching and writing the essay without the help of Google.” He laughed and answered: “Well, I went to a library to scan and print the pages I needed, or I read books from the book stores, and these take a lot more time than typing a few words into a search engine.”
