In Taiwan, people are used to separating(分開) in the escalator into two sides. The right side is for standing while the left side for walking. But some people had different opinions about the usage of escalators and provided several reasons for supporting the standing side. So now Taipei Metro encourages people to stand on the escalator instead of walking on them. 1. invade [ɪnˋved] (v.) 侵略;侵犯;強勢進入(某領域)
1) The first meaning for it is to enter for conquest (征服)or plunder(掠奪). For example, invade a country.
2) The second definition for invade is to spoil a situation or quality for another person without thinking about their feelings. For example, invade other’s privacy.
3) The second definition for invade is to enter an area of activity or industry in a forceful way. For example, invade the music industry.
4) You May use invade as an more abstract meaning. For example, fears invade one's mind.
5) For the biology, it means to affect intrusively(侵入地) or progressively(逐漸地). For example, the tumor cell invaded the healthy muscle tissue.
Finally, The synonym(同義字) for invade is encroach.+His new buildings encroach on my land.

2. risk [rɪsk] (n.) 風險;危險;隱患
It means the possibility of something bad happening, like investment(投資), or the possibility of loss or injury. And there are some phrases that we usually use in our daily life.
1) at risk. It means in a dangerous situation.
2) at one's own risk. 風險由某人自付
3) run/take a risk 冒著風險
* He accused(指控) his father of putting his life at risk.
You can use risk as a verb. The meaning is to do something although there’s a chance of a bad result. For example, risk one's life(某人冒著生命危險)
risky (adj.) 危險的,有風險的
+It means involving the possibility of something bad happening.
A: It's too risky.
B: But it’s my job.
3. avoid [əˋvɔɪd] (v.) 逃避;避免;防止
It means to keep away from, or to prevent something from happening, or to not allow yourself to do something. So it’s a little bit close to the meaning
of prevent or evade.
* avoid being late 避免遲到
* The most effective way for me to avoid procrastination(拖延症) is to set a deadline(截止期限) for everything.
For me, sometimes I still walk on the escalator if I’m really in a hurry, but usually I stand on the right side just like everybody else simply because I’m lazy. After watching the video, I really like the idea of those who walk spend thirteen seconds longer but save more than one minute than those who stand. So maybe next time I will try to stand on the left side, maybe.
