… we’re back on a Thursday, usually it’s an easier and more relaxed day for me. The first 3 days of the week are always really crazy. I have to prerecord your Thursday episode on Wednesday , and then I have to do a video shoot on Tuesday this week. Speaking of a video, I think we have video up today. On Mondays, you know they are Mondays, so yeah Thursdays are days when I am generally happier ‘cause I [have less] to worry about. But on Fridays, I get all anxious again ‘cause I feel that I have nothing to do over the weekend ‘cause obviously I don’t have any friends. You know but I still try my best to fill my schedule even if I don’t have any friends. I’ll go watch a movie alone(adv.獨自的), walk my dog alone ‘cause he doesn’t like me so I feel like I am alone(adj.孤單的). And sometimes I go shopping for [techs] stuff ‘cause I kinda of [geek].

And shopping that’s where we’re talking about today. Sometimes when you go shopping, you wander(閒逛) in luxury stores, just look around and the staff just [walks up to you and be straight and rude], you know that’s actually a strategy or like a thing that will trigger(觸發，引起) you to buy more stuff or expensive stuff. So yes, that’s what we’re gonna cover today and let’s look at the sentence of the day.

You're looking to buy a fancy new purse or belt. So you go to a luxury store, walk in and this happens.

fancy [ˋfænsɪ] (adj.)
It means decorative(裝飾性的) or complicated. But in the video, it means very expensive. So let’s say, for me, I like to wear clothes that aren’t fancy, that means they’re plain(樸素的), maybe just one color. So every time when I go shopping for clothes, I would say, I don’t want anything fancy.

Or when it comes to a relationship, let’s say anniversaries, Christmas, and your girl friend would say, you know what? I don’t need anything fancy. But you know, it’s not true when they say that, they want something fancy, they want surprises, if you ever hear that, don’t actually take it, because it’s not real that they want something fancy.

*Tim’s dad bought a fancy mansion(豪宅) in downtown(市中心的) New York. Can you imagine how rich he is?

purse [pɝs] (n.)
It is a small container for money, usually used by a woman. That is the definition in UK, for British people, they say that is a small container for money. But in the US, the definition is actually a handbag.

So I never get the idea of using a purse, I mean it does look fashionable, it does look very fancy, it is really pretty but then you can’t put anything in there. It doesn’t make sense. You can’t even put a water bottle in there, so every time you get thirsty, you gotta go buy a bottle of water, you gotta carry it in your hands or put it in your boyfriend’s bag something. So I never really understand the idea of a purse.

You can say, I love it when my boyfriend carries my purse for me. Sometimes it is very sweet. I know a lot of people who would love their boyfriends to carry their purses for them.

belt [bɛlt] (n.)
1) It is a strip of leather(皮革) or material worn around the waist to support clothes or for decoration.

2) a flat strip of material in a machine that moves along continuously to keep another part turning, or to keep objects on it moving.

A baggage carousel ([͵kærʊˋzɛl](行李輸送帶) that you find in a airport, it's big conveyor belt, and you put luggage up there, when you see your luggage, you can go pick it up and move it from the carousel. The carousel, the black, thinning, that is turning, that is a belt.

I’ve been reading a lot of comments and I see people say that how they don’t have any time to do the pronunciation challenge anymore. But the thing is you have lots of fragments of time(零碎時間) in your day, you can use the time well. For example, when you’re brushing your teeth, when you’re pooing, when you’re eating breakfast or making breakfast, when you’re commuting(通勤), I think it’s perfect timing to do the pronunciation challenge. You got lots of time in a day, it just really depends on how you will use it.
