The brain is an oxygen hog and requires constant flow of blood.

And when you cut that supply, it doesn't matter whether or not you can breathe.

The blood flow just isn't there to deliver the oxygen.

I'm just glad that it didn't show like a really weak sword cutting through all that tissue, because there's a lot of tissue there.

You have the cervical vertebrae, the spinal cord, connective tissue.

And then in some movies and shows, they'll have the eyes still move and people are like, oh, that means they have consciousness.

Continuing consciousness goes away in a second or two.
