My name is Patricia and I'm going to show you how to have the best time here in Japan.

I'm here at Fuji Kawaguchiko Onsen Konanso, which is a ryokan right by Mount Fuji.

A ryokan is a traditional Japanese style hotel and it usually incorporates cultural experiences so you can wear a yukata or soak in a hot onsen.

Onsens are traditional Japanese hot spring baths that use naturally heated geothermal water and are often a highlight of staying at a at this ryokang.

If you want a private onsen experience, you can reserve this private room with a bath and views of Mount Fuji for only $20 an hour.

Shrines are significant in Japan because people come here to pray for good fortune, health and protection.

I'm here at Asama Shrine which is about a 10 to 15 minute car ride from the Dukang.

People from all around the world come to see this iconic site with Mount Fuji and the five story Chorito Pagoda.

For lunch I'm at this place called Fuji Ramen Restaurant and one of the main reasons they're popular is they hand make their food from scratch every single day.

This is a Yatai style restaurant which is basically kind of like a Japanese food stall run by one owner.

And typically places like this have very minimal service and facilities because they want to put all their energy into making sure the food is good.

So I just got the tempura ramen which is a lot bigger than I was expecting, but

It's kind of got that funky smell, but in a good way.

From the bonito flakes and also from the pork broth that they've been simmering over hours.

I'm here at Yasinle Village, which actually used to be a farming village before it got destroyed by a landslide.

Now these thatched roof houses have been transformed into shops, restaurants or museums.

They've also got local produce for sale in case you want to support farmers and bring some veggies home.

So they're selling namine, which is a very classic Japanese soda for 200 yen.

So usually when you stay at a ryokan, the stay comes with a meal or two.

And today we're having Washoku AKA traditional Japanese food.

For our main dish we have some skin sukiyaki sashimi and lots of small side dishes.

But not just any miso soup, Crab miso soup.

Sukiyaki is actually one of Japan's most luxurious hot pot dishes, and

it's made up of thinly sliced meat and vegetables cooked in a sweet and savory sauce.
