You need to learn how to actually study for finals before it's too late.

You look at your exam schedule and see four finals packed into the same week.

You have no idea how you're supposed to study for biology, calculus, history, and literature all at once.

So you panic cram for the test that's tomorrow, fail to study for the others, and end up doing badly on all of them.

But the problem is that you're not following these four steps I'm about to show you.

Trying to study for finals without a plan is like trying to drive to a new destination without a map or GPS.

You waste precious time, take wrong turns, and end up frustrated and lost before you've even begun.

You know your destination is passing your exams, but you have no clear route to get there.

Let's say math makes you want to cry and your final is in seven days, but you also have history in three days and English in five.

Your idiot instinct will be to only study for history until it's over.

Sit your sorry self down, grab your exam dates, and admit which subjects make you want to scream into a pillow.

Now, block out study time in your calendar like your entire future depends on it.

If math makes you want to curl into a fetal position, you start today.

Then, after your history final, you'll suddenly have more free time, so dramatically increase those blocks leading up to the math final.

Study math for two hours on day five, after your English exam is done, and then for three whole hours on day six.

The concept of just studying is clearly too advanced for your peanut brain to handle, so you need to pre-plan every single study block like you're mapping out a military invasion against your own stupidity.

Now, don't just sit down and review math, you useless donut.

That's how you end up watching three hours of dog videos and calling it learning.

You need to decide in advance exactly what you're going to study in each block.

First, make a list of every topic on the exam.

Then, do the one thing your dumbass never thinks to do.

Mark the topics that show up every year, or that the professor emphasized with a big glaring asterisk.

Red is for the topics you don't know and those high-priority asterisked ones, which is most of them.

Yellow is for the stuff you sort of know, and green is for the things you already know, which is probably just the professor's name.

Now, here's the part where you always mess up.

You always start with the green topics because it makes you feel smart.

Your only job is to always start with the big, scary red topics.

You don't get to even look at the yellow ones until you've mastered the red, and you only get to glance at the green stuff as a reward for not being a complete failure.
