There's a phenomenon happening in Japan, that I'm not sure is happening anywhere else in the world.

Today, we're going to go see it for ourselves.

We're looking for a very particular store here.

So much so, it's springing off a new type of private-owned stores.

Okay, so we're going to check out this place called Stock Mart.

And supposedly they sell Costco items, but not in bulk.

Like maybe they break up the bags of bread, or set up two packages of bagels, buy one, have no group.

It's hard to imagine Costco inside the context of a large Japanese mall.

Is this new type of Costco retail just a new fad?

Or is there a big business opportunity to be explored?

Look, you can even get one of these if you want.

Some things that I'd like to try, but I'm not willing to pay for lifetime supply.

It's interesting because they have everything broken apart here.

Oh, Ben and his mom just bought me these.

But it's like 70 and 80, 60 and 70 percent cacao.

At least that's not a whole box of Oreos.

Do you think they have chocolate chips here that you weren't able to get?

Yeah, but look, they do have the classic chips here.

We just came to see what Stock Mart had to offer.

Little did we know, we would also get sucked in.

I think I'm going to buy some of these for the kids.

Do you ever not take a basket to keep your trip light and fast?

This hybrid cross between Costco and a Japanese convenience store is quite appealing.

I wonder how many other places are doing something like this.

This is stuff that we have on time that we all try.

The store isn't big, so the products they stock must be the ones they think will sell the best.

Of course, they have the house blends down here, the Kirkland blend.

Going through the rest of the store, we could tell for sure that not everything came from Costco.

And if it didn't come from Costco, it's either a favorite product of the management or perhaps there's a local demand for it.

The biggest surprises were about to come.

Our family loves this yogurt, so we will happily stock up here at StockMart.

You can actually try some of these things that you would want to try at Costco, but you don't want a huge bulk quantities, just buy them here.

It was surprising to see what showed up here at StockMart.

And you have all your charcuterie stuff here, too.

And then they have all this stuff like in a package like that.
