Best Day Trip from Tokyo! Atami - Seaside Onsen Town

    • My favorite thing is the sauce is in the shape of a hippo the nose is the the cap got the little eyes just gonna add a little bit of sauce to the top here we go itadakimasu and I don't know how well you guys know me but I am a pudding fiend so I can be very honest with my review the best thing about these style of puddings is because it comes in a jar they don't have to worry about adding lots of hardness so that it's like really hard to keep its shape it's super soft and super smooth the ones that come in jars are my favorite kind of texture it's just very sweet the the caramel has a nice level of bitterness but it's not too strong and it's not super eggy sometimes I find that with puddings they can be a bit too eggy but this one is just a very smooth yasashii sweetness it's very very delicious and yeah I want to buy this every time I come here and I do that's what I do and I keep the jars because they're so cute infinitely better than store-bought I know like coming to Japan it's hard to know where to start with your pudding adventure and you can buy store-bought grocery store convenience store puddings they're nothing compared to this this is like got a lot of love and care and history in it yeah as a pudding connoisseur I definitely would recommend this 100% please eat it and tell me how it is this area is called sun beach and it's very easy to understand why because there is so much strong sun happening but I decided to get into the water even though the sand was super super hot but the water was so refreshing I was really worried the water was going to be a bit hot because in Japan sometimes the water is a little bit bath temperaturey but I was very refreshed and cooled by the ocean this time it was really good I wish that I was in a swimsuit and I guess I would literally like stay in there for so long you can rent parasols here so I'm actually staying here overnight so I'm deciding if I'm going to come back tomorrow and rent a parasol and like get a rashi and just go for a swim for a while because that is so nice seriously better quality water than kamakura and sushi and everything super clear water everybody's really chill it's nice and yeah I mean I prefer to come here than kamakura any day to be honest there's a bunch of piers around here that you can walk down and see all the fish in the water it's really clear so you can see lots of fish there's also lots of boats there's a boat port and also in the distance we can see the castle which we're going to be heading to very soon we're going to be taking a ropeway oh last time I didn't get to go on the ropeway because it was too late at night and I took a taxi to the top and everything was closed and then I was stuck there don't be me uh the ropeway closes at like 5 p.m or something so don't don't be me so I didn't know this until this year but Atami is known for Atami Sakura which is I believe the earliest blooming sakura out of the year and so I came in February and I walked down the street and suddenly I saw all of these trees were in full bloom for sakura and I was so surprised and it was really quiet and peaceful and nice so if you want to see some early blooming sakura definitely come here in February it's really worth it it was a really beautiful atmosphere what have you done I took us into a car park that's fenced off I'm trying to get us to the ropeway we're trapped in a car park and the sun's really hot and the tarmac's really hot and the ropeway's right there and I messed up and I'm sorry and I'm upset oh my god it's so pretty wow look at that right now we're on the top of Hachimayama the castle's just up there it was about a three minute ride on the ropeway very relaxing and now we get this beautiful view from the observatory so I haven't had much savory stuff today but one thing you can always usually rely on is a thing called pizza man at like convenience stores they have nikuman and pizza man and man is just basically a bread door it's like a pizza pocket with really soft bread on the outside and you can find that basically anywhere in Japan and at this like sky top cafe they have basically a pizza man there's a bunch of tomato and cheese on the inside with some soft bread on the outside and thank god you know it's so hot and I'm so tired and I'm so hungry so itadakimasu I didn't reach the filling I just got the bread so we're gonna be here for a while two hours later oh my god I was so hungry that's really good that's delicious yeah just nice to have a snack to keep me going I feel like later on it'd be good if we can find a meal somewhere but there's a lot of seafood in the area so hopefully something to do with seafood seriously don't underestimate the heat in Japan it is actually a scary level the humidity just traps everything so even though it's like oh it's 35 degrees it's not that bad it's like feels like 40 feels like I've experienced it feels like 46 day there's no breeze it's the sun coming off the the tarmac there we go yeah you know it's it's brutal yeah I don't recommend coming but if you do go to the beach have fun but be careful it sucks this is Atami Castle and it's big and it's beautiful and you can see it from heaps of different points throughout Atami but I will say it's not really the same as the other Japanese castles that I've seen in a traditional sense it's full of interesting things on each floor so there's like a game center there's an ashiyu where you wash your feet in onsen water there's a panoramic view but also there's a trick art museum I don't know if you guys know about trick art museums but they're huge in Japan I've never been to one so maybe I don't understand what the huge hype is but they're everywhere and this one you know we got some examples like oh no I'm falling into a shark's mouth oh this gorilla is so big and scary that kind of thing but yeah if you're we can't do that because we're filming and that's not allowed but the thing that we can film that is amazing is the views the view is so beautiful from up here and you get to see Sagami Bay and the Boso Peninsula and it is just beautiful and the sun's slowly going down so it's perfect timing super close to the castle there is a cute cafe and they sell a bunch of different things there's lots of options they even had like a mixed pizza but one thing that I was super interested in is they have a bowl with maguro on top so tuna and Shizuoka is famous for their fish but also they're famous for wasabi and the wasabi that comes with the set there's like some cold soba noodles as well the wasabi that comes with it is real wasabi from Shizuoka now for wasabi I don't know if you guys know this but a lot of wasabi that you've probably tried is not wasabi it's horseradish it's much much cheaper to make like wasabi with horseradish but the real stuff is very expensive usually or you just get a really really small amount so yeah I'm gonna have some real wasabi with my noodles yeah really easy access from the castle so if you're here definitely check it out and we have a beautiful view of the ocean behind us and mix it in so I can just taste it oh for a hot day cold soba noodles are the way to go I'm not good with slurping itadakimasu hmm the flavor of wasabi is so strong but the spice is so much less I've always found that when I've had real wasabi the first time you eat it straight yeah it's pretty spicy but it's it's more about the flavor of it whereas horseradish it just it just gives you that same kind of nose kick that just hurts a lot but real wasabi you get to taste the flavor a lot more that's awesome let me try a little bit of my maguro bowl and they've added flavor to the maguro I don't know what it is maybe soy sauce it's quite sweet like a sweet savory sauce I reckon it's soy sauce with like something else going on but it's very delicious and the texture of the maguro is really good the rice is nice and warm and we get a little bit of seaweed and sesame on top it's actually perfect I'm very happy I do recommend okay go away I'm gonna eat this get out of here go away go away go away we just made it back from the castle it's actually quite a bit of a journey so just if you're here make sure you're taking note of when the bus times are and if you miss them you can take a taxi and it's about 2000 yen to get back to the station which honestly isn't too bad and it's air-conditioned and it's really nice but it is it is more expensive but yeah keep an eye on the transport times but I need a refreshing snack before we finish up for the day and I found some soy sauce ice cream apparently the soy sauce is inside of the ice cream the other choices were matcha which is another thing that shizuoka is super famous for but I recently had a lot of matcha and I had some matcha beer in another video if that's out please check it out but yeah I wanted to get some soy sauce flavored ice cream here we go itadakimasu soy sauce flavored ice cream is so good you have to try it when you come to Japan I know it sounds a little intense but it's very like sweet and sticky but has this kind of salty savoriness to it I reckon it's kind of like a salted caramel vibe but it's really really really good and very refreshing on such a hot and sticky day there's like something else added in that you know the soy sauce flavor it's it's more complex than a salted caramel and this one has a mitarashi in it so like mitarashi dango is the the sweet savory dango with the sticky stuff on top that stuff is in here so it works really well with sweet stuff I have had wasabi ice cream before and it's good it doesn't have that spiciness to it it's just that wasabi flavor it's not as good as soy sauce ice cream or I'd say even as good as matcha ice cream to me but it's interesting I think it's worth it because then you really get to experience pure wasabi flavor without the the spice it's coming to the end of a beautiful day and I was ready to soak my tired feet but they drained the ashiyu and I'm so sad but yeah I mean this is an onsen town so if you guys want to come here for onsen maybe don't do it in the summer but there's heaps of hotels that have onsen as part of their last time I was here I actually got a kashikiri onsen or a rentable onsen from one of the hotels and I just showed up and used it for about an hour which was good it was a little bit pricey so I guess I'd recommend staying at a hotel for the proper experience and there are some public ones as well but you just gotta know where they are and find them but yeah Atami is honestly one of the hidden gems around Tokyo that people don't really know about like I feel like if people do day trips they go to Hakone or Kamakura and Zushi but people don't really come here as much and it's seriously so good it's much more of a chill vibe I will say though they do have fireworks festivals here that are quite famous and then it gets pretty busy I've never been but I was talking to a taxi driver last time I was here and he was like oh I get so expensive and busy so yeah definitely be careful with that but there's so much to do so I hope when you guys come to visit you can check Atami because I seriously recommend it but thank you so much for watching and let me know in the comments down below what thing you liked about Atami the most thank you and I'll see you in the next video bye hot fresh on spring water on spring let's do that again he's an old man with uh who's boiling so I have a mud brain hard word not happening

My favorite thing is the sauce is in the shape of a hippo the nose is the the cap got the little eyes just gonna add a little bit of sauce to the top here we go itadakimasu and I don't know how or I'd say even as good as matcha ice cream to me but it's interesting I think it's worth it because then you really get to experience pure wasabi flavor without the the spice it's coming to the end of a beautiful day and I was ready to soak my tired feet but they drained the ashiyu and I'm so sad but yeah I mean this is an onsen town so if you guys want to come here for onsen maybe don't do it in the summer but there's heaps of hotels that have onsen as part of their last time I was here I actually got a kashikiri onsen or a rentable onsen from one of the hotels and I just showed up and used it for about an hour which was good it was a little bit pricey so I guess I'd recommend staying at a hotel for the proper experience and there are some public ones as well but you just gotta know where they are and find them but yeah Atami is honestly one of the hidden gems around Tokyo that people don't really know about like I feel like if people do day trips they go to Hakone or Kamakura and Zushi but people don't really come here as much and it's seriously so good it's much more of a chill vibe I will say though they do have fireworks festivals here that are quite famous and then it gets pretty busy I've never been but I was talking to a taxi driver last time I was here and he was like oh I get so expensive and busy so yeah definitely be careful with that but there's so much to do so I hope when you guys come to visit you can check Atami because I seriously recommend it but thank you so much for watching and let me know in the comments down below what thing you liked about Atami the most thank you and I'll see you in the next video bye hot fresh on spring water on spring let's do that again he's an old man with uh who's boiling so I have a mud brain hard word not happening
