"Better three hours too soon than a minute too late." - William Shakespeare

Hello everyone and welcome to the Pronunciation Challenge! It's your favorite host, Hugh, presenting you with a brand new spanking episode! Today, we'll be talking about punctuality which is the fact or quality of being on time! Are you always late? Are you always on time? Regardless, I can bet that each one of you has at least that one friend who is never on time! Why is that? (I also feel that this episode is kind of singling me out!) Well, turns out there's a scientific reason for this! I swear, I didn't mean to be late! It was science! Alright, let's get to the featured sentence before we find out why I'm—um, why people are late!

Today's featured sentence:
Now, conscientiousness is one of the big five personality traits, along with things like agreeableness and extroversion, so it's really important.

I'll say that again.

Now, conscientiousness is one of the big five personality traits, along with things like agreeableness and extroversion, so it's really important.

Ok, now time for the Pronunciation Tips.

For the first word, we have a long one
conscientiousness
Five syllables.
“CON” has a short O sound. “SCI” sounds like “she”, the pronoun . “EN” sounds like the letter N. “TIOUS” if spelt out like how it should sound, would be “SHUS”. “NESS” actually has a short i sound here. Imagine saying “is” with an N sound in front . Conscientiousness.

Next up, we have
agreeableness
Five syllables
I got a bunch of long words for you in this episode! “A” has a short U sound. “GREE” has a long E sound. “A”, again, has a short U sound. “BLE” sounds like the animal, “bull”. “NESS”, again, has a short i sound with an N sound in front. Agreeableness.

Lastly, we have,
extroversion
Four syllables.
“EX”, sounds like the letter X. “TRO” has a short U sound here. “VER” has your typical “ER” combination sound and “SION” has your typical “ION” sound. Extroversion.

Moving onto Vocabulary!

The first word is:
1. conscientiousness
Definition
the quality of working hard and being careful
Used in a sentence you could say,
“Conscientiousness is the key to a successful life.”

Next word,
2. traits
Definition
a particular characteristic that can produce a particular type of behaviour
Used in a sentence, you could say:
“He definitely got those traits from his father.”

And lastly,
3. extroversion
Definition:
the quality of being energetic and not shy, and enjoying being with other people
Used in a sentence, you could say:
“Extroversion is usually a trait that many people wish they had.”

Time-benders! That sounds so cool! It sounds like a super power. People who are always late, perceive time differently! (Perceive to realize or understand something) Yeah! That explains why I'm late sometimes! I can bend time!
Alright, I apologize to everyone for being late. I have a lot on my plate (A lot on my plate means I have a lot going on in my life right now) and I'm trying to juggle 5 different jobs at once. I 'm actually writing this script out at 4am right now. Before that, I had an audition I had to film and edit. Before that, I had to write a script for a short film I'm making this week. Before that, I had to teach one of my students from my speaking class! I'm a busy man!

Alright, folks, I should really head to bed so get your recordings in if you haven't done so already. Hit me up on Instagram at hughtran_ if you want to see what I'm up to. Until the next episode, see ya!
