“Often, a school is your best bet-perhaps not for education but certainly for protection from an undead attack.” ― Max Brooks, The Zombie Survival Guide
What’s up Voicetube listeners! My name is Hubert and today, I want to dedicate this episode to my best friend Ken! I’m dedicating this episode to him because we have spent many nights talking about the topic in today’s video. Where to go in a zombie apocalypse! What is an apocalypse? It means the end of the world! A zombie apocalypse would be the end of the world brought on by zombies! I’m sure many of us have watched a zombie TV series or movie in our lifetimes. Train to Busan? The Walking Dead? All of Us are Dead? (I thought this one was so annoying by the way.) Oh, I highly recommend the South Korean TV show, Kingdom. Masterpiece.
Let’s get to the featured sentence and come back so I can talk about the plan my best friend and I came up with if a zombie apocalypse ever happened!
Today’s featured sentence:
Ideas can include entertainment, zombie movies, news and information about zombie attacks, and architecture, or how to build a safe shelter.
I’ll say that again.
Ideas can include entertainment, zombie movies, news and information about zombie attacks, and architecture, or how to build a safe shelter.
Ok, now time for the Pronunciation Tips.
For the first word, we have
Entertainment
Four syllables.
“EN” is simply just saying the letter N. “TER” has your typical “ER” sound, ER. Now with “TAIN”, make sure you say the letter A and stretch it out to have AIN. Now add a T in front and you have TAIN. Lastly, for “MENT”, say it with a short i sound, to get “MINT” like the flavor. Entertainment.
Next up, we have
Information
Four syllables
“IN” like in and out. “FOR” has a typical “ER” sound. “MA” has a long A sound and “TION” sounds like any other “T I O N” sound and if we’re spelling it how it’s supposed to sound, it should be “S H U N”. Information.
Lastly, we have,
Architecture
Four syllables.
With “AR”, simply say the letter R. With “CHI”, don’t pay attention to the H or I here. Try saying this syllable with C and short U sound, “CUH”. “TEC” has a short E sound and with “TURE”, imagine it being spelt, “C H U R E”, “TURE”. Architecture.
Moving onto Vocabulary!
The first word is:
1. Information
Definition
facts about a situation, person, event, etc.
Used in a sentence you could say,
Can you please provide me with some information about this place?
Next word,
2. Architecture
Definition
the art and practice of designing and making buildings
Used in a sentence, you could say:
The architecture in this place is amazing!
And lastly,
3. Shelter
Definition:
(a building designed to give) protection from bad weather, danger, or attack
Used in a sentence, you could say:
In the event of a thunderstorm, please seek out shelter immediately.
Alright, so have you thought about how you would survive in a zombie apocalypse? The plan Ken and I (well, mostly Ken) thought of was simple. We head north. That’s it. Why? Simple. Zombies, I’m assuming, won’t have warm bodies. They won’t be able to regulate their body temperature which means, if their bodies are exposed to the cold long enough, their body parts would freeze and fall off! They might even just freeze in place too! My best friend and I grew up in Canada so we’re used to the cold. I personally hate winter so that’s why I’m in Asia now but if there’s a zombie apocalypse, I’ll have no choice but to accept winter again!
This was a fun episode! I got to wrap it up here though, otherwise this episode could go on all day! If you listeners have any fun tips, leave them in the comments section along with your recordings! I do check you know! Alright, until the next episode, bye!
