“Acting is behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances." Sanford Meisner

Ok, being an actor myself, I felt like I should present this next video to you listeners. For those tuning in for the first time, welcome! My name is Hubert and today’s video is about acting, or more specifically, roles that inspired actors to change their lives!
You know what comment I usually get when someone knows I’m an actor? “You must be a really good liar”. That or how much money I make off each job, which is extremely rude to ask of someone especially if you just met them. You don’t ask others how much they make when you first meet them. Oh, another good one is, “Can you cry for me?”. No, I will not cry for you. I won’t ask you to engineer something for me if I find out you’re an engineer. Let’s exercise some common sense people!
I say all this because acting is not easy. It takes a lot of mental energy and research to portray a character to the best of your ability.
Alright, listen on for the featured sentence and come back to me so I can share a little story of how a role also changed my life.

Today’s featured sentence:
“In pursuit of a dynamic performance, they'll conduct extensive research, learn new skills, and even alter their appearance.”

I’ll say that again.

“In pursuit of a dynamic performance, they'll conduct extensive research, learn new skills, and even alter their appearance.”

Ok, now time for the Pronunciation Tips.

For the first word, we have
Dynamic
Three syllables.
The first syllable is “DY”, sounds exactly like the word “Die”. “NAM”, sounds like the word “am” supported by the letter N. “IC” sounds like your typical “i c k” ending sound. Dynamic.

Next up, a blended combination.
Pursuit of
Two syllables
Here, you want to blend “pursuit” and “of” into one word. Simply combine the letter t from the first word into the word “of” giving you “tof”. Pursuit-of.

And our last one would be,
Conduct
Two syllables.
With the first syllable, “CON”, imagine it spelt “KUN” so that it’ll have more of a short “u” sound. The second syllable, “DUCT”, just ignore the “c” here and go straight into the “t”. Conduct.

Moving onto Vocabulary!

The first word is:
1. Pursuit
Definition
an activity that you spend time doing, usually when you are not working
Used in a sentence, you could say:
“The pursuit of money ruined his life.”

Next word,
2. Dynamic
Definition
having a lot of ideas and enthusiasm
Used in a sentence, you could say:
“The chemistry between my wife and I is really dynamic!”

And lastly,
3. Extensive
Definition:
covering a large area; having a great range
Used in a sentence, you could say:
“Scientists have done extensive amounts of research in pursuing the cure for the common cold.”

For those who don’t know who Jim Carey is, he is a legendary comedic actor. The younger generation might not know who he is but Jim Carey was always a goofy or silly character up until the last few years. Now, he's an introspective person (introspective person means a person who spends a considerable amount of time examining his/her own thoughts and feelings.) and is quite the philosopher on life. These roles really do stay with you even after you’re done playing them.
I once played a chef and spent a lot of time learning how to cook. I even enjoy cooking in my free time now. You know, I used to judge food based on only one question. “Was it tasty?” That’s it. Now, it’s a little different. Does the taste linger? What’s the aftertaste? What was the texture? How was the presentation? Like I said, a little bit of the character stays with you. There are pros and cons to this because what if you played a deranged psychopath killer? Acting isn’t as easy as you think it is, folks.

Ok, guys, that wraps it up for the week for me. Tune in next week to find out what I have in store for the Pronunciation Challenge. As always, thanks for listening! Find me on Instagram at hughtran_ if you want to follow my adventures. See everyone again soon! Bye!
