  • so today I wanted to do something that was a little bit different, where I just wanted to have coffee with you and talk through some things that I've been on my mind lately and also some new things that potentially might happen.

  • And then also, I just wanted to discuss some of my favorite things from last year and just the things that really made a difference the whole year through 1st 1 being you guys might have seen in my last video, I just briefly mentioned I got my hair cut if you didn't see that video.

  • Uh, this is the truth.

  • I got it cut and it was significant, like I got maybe nine inches off.

  • I'm guessing, totally.

  • But it is a much more freeing feeling, and I'm having a lot of fun just trying to find new ways that I want to style it.

  • The girl who cut my hair, I also mentioned my last few was Mary Ellen Sky, and I just can't recommend her instagram enough.

  • She has always had the most beautiful home, and now she has a baby named Holiday, and she's been really great to be able to actually meet her someone I followed for a long time.

  • I I'm excited for this new do and this New year, and there's been a lot that Zach and I have been thinking about.

  • So we are thinking about moving to Nashville, and it's just a matter of time, really.

  • We're just trying to, like, think of everything, worry about everything twice, you know, check everything off the list.

  • Yes, I worried about that once.

  • Okay.

  • I need to worry about it one more time and think through it.

  • But ultimately, like, it's just we've been where we are for so many years that it feels like, you know, taking a plant and just Uprooting it and putting it somewhere else.

  • And maybe you guys have moved this year.

  • This is not something that is news.

  • And to most people, So if you've moved, I would love to hear your tips in the comments.

  • And just you know what you guys think about the whole thing.

  • It would mean that, you know, the setting of the videos might change a little bit, but it would also mean that I could mix up content too, which is really encouraging and something that would be super fun for me and Zach Toe like think through like, you know, the videos and the photos and everything would be just a little bit different, which is also terrifying.

  • So we're leaning more toward one apartment that we toured.

  • We toured a few while we were in Nashville, and it was just really cool to be able to get an idea of in pros and cons and the one that we really like.

  • We toured and it was on the sixth floor, but the one that we would actually get is much higher.

  • So there's that, too.

  • Like what we saw.

  • We would have an even better view.

  • The one that we saw had, like a building in the way.

  • But we'd actually get, like, a direct skyline view of downtown.

  • And, you know, it was just nice to be able to know so many people in the area.

  • We have a lot of friends there and family, and so that's always really encouraging.

  • Something that would feel a little bit more homey is to move somewhere where we actually know people.

  • I just think that there's a lot of benefits.

  • There is a big fashion scene But we'll see.

  • I really like this one apartment, though with the big windows, and it was a lot bigger in person than what I realized.

  • And I think it's just the scale of everything.

  • Like the ceilings are high, the windows are big.

  • And so when you look at it, it's like, Oh, is that small?

  • No, Actually, if you put me in it, it's like the ceilings are double my height, plus a little bit s.

  • So it was just fun to be able to see in person and think and dream a little bit about how we want it to be decorated.

  • But we'll see, by the way, another really good motivator for us, moving is being that we can actually vlog and just do really fun things and see a city with fresh eyes.

  • I think that that's another thing about where we are now is like there's only so much I could love being.

  • It's the small city, and it would just be kind of weird.

  • And I don't really have the same fresh I to my town that I would to a new tone that makes sense.

  • I feel like, you know, whenever you can go to a new place.

  • You could just take all these photos and videos.

  • And it's just all new and shiny and and all that.

  • And I think that even if it's just a small chapter in our lives, we might actually find that it's one that we look back on and just absolutely love.

  • And I think that's also kind of lent itself to maybe a little bit of burn out for me and Zach where you know, we we even want something fresh and we have an idea of like what we love to do.

  • I mentioned Zach a lot because he does all the video editing and you know, the photos, like everything that you see, is really because Zach did it.

  • And so you know, for him, like when he's thinking about through, like videos or photo ideas, it's just as much of him as me.

  • And when we both have that fresh eye and like a fresh perspective and we see something beautiful and something we haven't seen before, it's just like, Wow, we could do so much, we'll see.

  • But, you know, I just want to share so much more to my personal life than just outfits.

  • I feel like there's so much more on a deeper level that I want to share, and a new city could really you know, I could document all of that and really bring you guys along, moving onto favorites for 2018.

  • Okay, so starting with shoes, I have to say the ones that were the most versatile to me and made such a big difference Where than a solo shoes, the Chelsea boots.

  • If you get the black ones, they have a rubber soul.

  • So that helps a lot with, like weather.

  • And if it's a little bit rainy that day, it's no big deal.

  • Plus, it just goes with everything.

  • And it's such a classic shoe that out of all of the shoes that I got in 2018 those ones made such a big difference, and I can't recommend them enough.

  • In fact, you guys, we're probably ad nauseum listening to me talk about my Chelsea's, but seriously, they're amazing.

  • The beauty item that made the most difference to me was something when he just got recently.

  • Actually, it's this volition.

  • Oil control modifying, missed and I needed to replace my setting spray after I did all my makeup and the one that was using had more of a DUI effect, which was great.

  • But because my skin is oily, I wanted something that would actually make my face not look oily through the day.

  • So this one has been really good.

  • And when I sprayed on, I immediately smelled like roses, and I looked at the ingredients and actually says that there's a rose flower water as the second ingredient.

  • So that would definitely be why, for my favorite sent, this was a very hard decision because I absolutely love brands like La La Bo and Mason, Louis Marie.

  • There's just so many different ones that came to mind that I was like, Oh my gosh, I love this scent And perfume has been such a big like focus that I've had this past year that I really wanted to invest in and build my collection on.

  • So the one that I think that I just absolutely fell in love with was the Gabrielle Chanel perfume.

  • I have just been like drinking this.

  • It's been just so amazing, and every time I sprayed on myself, I feel just very feminine, and it just makes my whole outfit seem classier.

  • But, yeah, I'm really happy with this one.

  • It's got floral sense, which is a little bit different than what Coco Chanel like, liked.

  • I've heard in the past that she liked more like Cologne Sense, which I also d'oh.

  • But it's been nice to have something a little bit different, like a floral.

  • I tried to pick a favorite clothing brand from 2018 that I discovered and loved, and it was Oh, my gosh, so hard to pick.

  • So I'm actually going to list three that I fell in love with one being every lane.

  • No surprise there to being a Cezanne again, no surprise.

  • But I like those brands for different reasons.

  • I think that ever Lane is great for basics and something that is very classic, and there's such a reliable company.

  • But then, also, Suzanne is really great if I just want something very feminine and detailed.

  • Actually, what I'm wearing right now is from Cezanne, and some other pieces are extremely versatile, while others are maybe a one time where it will not one time but something more formal, something that you would want to feel very distinct and unique is what I would reach for when I when I want to feel that way, I reach verses on and the 3rd 1 would be the brand Cotton Kot n and I can link all these down in the description below.

  • Why, like cotton is that all their products are made out of Egyptian cotton, and they're just for that reason, they're just so incredibly soft.

  • And I just love the colors that they make where they're kind of a muted, not really an ivory or a beige I can't really describe.

  • It almost has, like a tent of like an olive tone to something that would be considered beige.

  • The pieces that I've gotten from them well, I bought myself where thes sweatshirts that are corrupt and I wear those all the time.

  • Also, a turtleneck I got from their and their dresses are so comfortable, I just want to sleep in them for podcasts.

  • I love to listen to podcasts whenever I'm cleaning etcetera, but one that I love so much and why no down to the detail of why Coco Chanel liked colognes was because the history Chicks podcast is absolutely amazing.

  • I actually like to listen to them when I'm running to it just seems like something that just carries me away.

  • It's like reading a People magazine for people in history, and they're all women in some of them are mythical or like where the story of beauty and the beast came from, or whatever else I am a history fan in general.

  • And so having them about women who are notorious for one thing or another in the past is really cool to me, and they just make it so much fun.

  • They did, Ah, several episodes feature of Jackie O.

  • That was so good and yeah, the Coco Chanel one was amazing, too.

  • So I would start with those Speaking of history or historical fiction would definitely be Outlander.

  • I've loved Outlander for years, and it's just so cool to be able to see the story unfold.

  • I usually read the books, and then I'll watch the season like a year or two later.

  • And so I'm always a Teesta.

  • Couple books ahead of what the season is, and it's just so much fun to see how everything just happens in pieces that I've forgotten about.

  • Come back and into the the season, the show and, of course, the people who act as clear.

  • And Jamie and now Brianna and, um, what's his name?

  • It just got beat up.

  • Uh, Roger, they're all just so great.

  • And I'm just like in love with this season, especially because now they're in America and not only America, but they were like in my backyard.

  • I grew up in North Carolina, and so this is just such a special season for me.

  • I'm just, like geeking out already.

  • I'll stop.

  • Favorite movie of 2018 was Mary Poppins, seriously just got back from the theater like a couple of days ago, and it was just so cool to see how they made a sequel.

  • And they made it so well.

  • And they brought in little tiny things about, you know, being called a codfish that were just such small details that are so great to be able to see in a new light.

  • And the songs were, in my opinion, Justus Good as back then, especially with the balloons like that.

  • That last scene, if you've seen it, you'll know what I'm talking about.

  • I just fell in love with that.

  • I was just in the best mood.

  • So definitely check out Mary Poppins, if you haven't already.

  • And finally, favorite book of 2018.

  • I looked through my whole list on good reads, and the book that I just love the most this year was the Nightingale because it's by Kristen Hannah, who is absolutely amazing.

  • I've read who books by her, and she does such a good job with historical fiction.

  • And every time you think that the story can't get worse, it does.

  • And she just does such a good job of making you cry in a book.

  • And so, yeah, I cannot recommend the nightingale enough.

  • She also is really good with like sisters.

  • Both books I have read so far have to do with sisters, which is a new concept to me being that I'm an only child, I can only imagine, But it's so neat to be able to read about and honestly, like you will love it just to breathe the nightingale.

  • I promise you'll fly through it Before I in this video.

  • I wanted to talk through some goals that I have for 2019 1 being that I want actually upload 100 times this year, which is crazy.

  • I think that we got round maybe 50 in the past year.

  • And so this will be like double, which means I'm gonna really, like hunger down and post for you guys.

  • So it means so much to me if you subscribed and I'm really excited to, like, just show so much more, um, and just talk through, you know, all sorts of things, like today and also with elf it's like we're gonna have a really good year.

  • So definitely subscribe to follow along.

  • But three more goals that I really want to set for this year.

  • I talked briefly about it in my last video.

  • I'm going to be working out every day of 2019 for 20 minutes at least.

  • If you guys want to do the same, definitely follow along.

  • You don't have to start on a certain day, but it has to be 365 consecutive days.

  • If you want to join along with me, I feel like just saying this.

  • It sounds just so crazy, but I'm going to do it, I swear.

  • And then I'm going to also be reading on good reads.

  • You couldn't follow me along there.

  • I'm going to read 10 books this year.

  • I feel like that's one more than I ride last year, and that's a pretty good goal if I just let my mind to it.

  • And some of you guys are absolutely crazy.

  • Younger reads.

  • I follow you and it's like you've read 100 books this year or like 60 books this year, and I that just like I cannot imagine.

  • Oh, maybe one day I'll be that cool.

  • But then also, the final gold I want to share with you guys that I really want you guys to hold me to is I want to do at least one more painting this year.

  • I never seem to carve out enough time to paint, but it's something that absolutely loved to do.

  • You can check out a couple of the videos that I've done in the past when I did of Estee Leyland, who was absolutely an amazing person, and you can check out the painting I did of her.

  • I also did a painting of LA Madeleine.

  • You guys might know here on YouTube and so both were really fun to be able to bring you guys a long way.

  • I have one person in mind I'd really like to paint, but it's really just a matter of finding the time.
