  • Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Lesson 367. The title of today's lesson is commit a

  • crime not do or make a crime. Okay. So a lot of students of ESL will sometimes

  • make mistakes by saying that somebody does a crime or somebody makes a crime

  • where they should always be saying somebody commits a crime. Okay. Let's look

  • at some examples. Of course here with the X. This is wrong.

  • So here's the example number 1. What makes people do crimes ? No. That would be

  • incorrect. You should say what makes people commit crimes ? That's what we

  • should say. All right. The second one here with the X , again this is wrong.

  • He went to prison for doing a number of crimes. No. You should say he went to

  • prison for committing a number of crimes. That's correct. Okay. And the third one

  • here. Again with the X, this is wrong. Society should do something to prevent

  • people from making crimes. All right. Again you know with the check, this would

  • be correct. Society should do something to prevent people from committing crimes.

  • Okay. So again remember that we commit a crime.

  • We don't do a crime or make a crime. Anyway I hope you got it. I hope it is clear.

  • Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.
