  • Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Proverbs 12. The proverb today is the pen is mightier than

  • the sword. You might have heard this before. This is

  • a very famous proverb. It comes up every now and then. Let's take a look at the note.

  • This proverb expresses the idea that writing especially good writing with a

  • good message is stronger than a military force or someone that is opposing you

  • with physical violence. You know they might been proved before with like

  • Gandhi or Martin Luther King I think they helped to prove that idea. All right let's take a look at

  • the first example. Example number one I chose to become a writer because I believe the pen is mightier than the sword. I believe

  • I can influence and change the mind of people more through my writing than

  • anything else. Okay good. Let's look at the second example here. Stalin

  • is quoted as saying ideas are more powerful than guns, we wouldn't allow

  • them to have guns why should we let them have ideas. Remember I covered this quote in a previous video.

  • So here we see Stalin must believe the pen is mightier than the sword.

  • Because yeah that's, that's well you know when communists and socialists often

  • take over a country, they often take over the school system. The training so they

  • want to control everything. They want to control people's thinking. So this would

  • mean the pen is mightier than the sword at some point. Okay I hope you got it. I

  • hope was informative. Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.
