Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Lesson 313. The title of today's lesson

is \"Don't say discuss about. Okay. Let's take a look at the note here. Discuss

To-infinitive

already means to talk about or write about. So it is redundant. Remember

redundant means repeating. It is redundant to repeat \"about' after discuss.

So if you say discuss about it's like saying talk about about or write about

about. Since discuss already means talk about or write about another about is

not necessary. It is redundant. It's considered to be improper. So you

shouldn't do it. Although this is one that possibly some natives could make

this mistake. But you shouldn't do it.  It's not considered good English or

proper English. So let's go on. So let's look at the first example here. They

discussed about safety at the meeting. No.  You should simply say they discussed

safety at the meeting. You know safety probably in a company or something like

that. Make sure everybody is safe working in the company. So all right number two.  He

discussed about the problems of marriage in his book. No. Here or you would say the

author discussed the problems of marriage in his book or the author wrote

about the problems of marriage in his book. Yeah. So that's the way you would

use it. Okay.  However to be a little more confusing

though unfortunately just like English is sometimes,  you can actually use about

after the noun discussion. So let's look at this note here. You can use about

after the no discussion. So you could say they are having a discussion about

funding the wall. Yeah. So somebody could be having a discussion about something.

So about is okay if it follows the noun discussion , but it should not follow the
