  • What's up guys?

  • Kevin here from SnowboardProCamp.com. In this video

  • I'm going to teach you how to hit a jump on your snowboard. Learning how to jump will

  • get you riding in the terrain park

  • and is the first step to learning tricks. I break jumping down into four parts

  • the approach, take off, in the air,

  • and landing. Your approach up to the jump sets your speed

  • and lines you up for the take off. Do a few turns on your way to the jump

  • to set your speed. Then points your board straight and flat, toward the lip.

  • If you're unsure of how much speed you need for the jump, watch

  • other people hit it and see how many turns they take before pointing their board

  • straight. A good take off from the lip will set you up balance in the air.

  • You want to actually pop your board off the lip . This will get your snowboard

  • into the air with some height. Popping evenly off both feet

  • will keep your snowboard level in the air. In the air

  • you want to keep yourself compact and balanced.

  • Bend your knees to keep your snowboard level. Make sure that your hands are over

  • your nose and tail

  • with your head looking straight over your front shoulder.

  • This will keep your snowboard pointed straight.

  • From the air you can start spotting your landing. Get ready for the landing by extending your

  • legs slightly.

  • Then absorb the landing by bending your knees.

  • Ride out straight followed by a turn onto you heel edge. Turning onto your heels will

  • control your speed

  • and let you see any obstacles that may be in the way. Prepare for hitting a jump

  • in the park

  • by first practicing jumping off the flat ground and off lips

  • outside the park. Practicing outside the park

  • means there will be less risk of getting hurt and will really build your confidence.

  • Once you have jumping mastered

  • outside the park, then you'll be ready for a small park jump.

  • Leave me any questions you have about jumping in the comment box

  • and tell me what video should I make next. Thanks for supporting SnowboardProCamp
