  • Hello! Today i'm making Totoro bread filled with custard cream

  • First mix together the sugar and corn starch

  • Add milk and mix again

  • Beat the yolk, add and mix again

  • Add a few drops of vanilla extract

  • Strain and cook at medium heat

  • Beat until thickens avoiding lumps

  • Now you can add a tsp of butter

  • Cover with plastic wrap and let it sit to cool

  • For the bread dough mix flour, dried yeast, and sugar

  • Add one beaten egg and milk

  • Add butter an mix well until you can work with hands

  • Sprinkle with some flour and knead

  • Work until no longer sticky and make a ball

  • Put it on a greased bowl ant let it raise about 30 min to 1 hour

  • Once it doubles poke a hole, if it dissapears quickly the dough needs to raise more

  • Remove the gas pressing with your hands

  • Roll the dough and cut into 6-8 pieces depending on the size

  • Make the balls and take a bit of bread to make Totoro's ears later

  • Flatten the dough with your hands and fill each with a tsp of custard cream

  • Pinch the dough over the custard cream. Be sure to close well

  • For the ears, divide the small ball into two pieces, make a cilinder and sharpen both ends

  • Stick them to the body

  • Cover with plastic wrap and let raise again about 15 min.

  • Bake at 180º 15 min.

  • Melt white and black chocolate

  • With a pastry bag and white chocolate make the stomach and eyes

  • Make the details (eyes, nose and whiskers) with the balck chocolate
