I've been terribly depressed lately.
Voice Off-Screen: All the electoral college votes are in, and it looks Donald J. Trump will be the next president of the United States.
And I've been assessing my life and wondering what I can do to really make it better.
Hi, um, what's the maximum number of pizzas I can order?
That's it?
Okay. I guess I'll take twenty.
Over the last year, I've been trying all these different kinds of things.
You know, wondering what the hell is gonna work.
And I've been very lucky; there are many things that I've found make me very happy.
But after I was, like, analyzing this for a while, I realized that all of these different things could kind of be categorized or simplified into this one, simple word:
growth.
You know, I'm happiest when I'm growing.
Whether that's learning a new skill, reading more, trying something that scares me, taking part in a charity or a cause I believe in,
traveling and experiencing new cultures, exercising, attending therapy, or strengthening my support system.
It all came down to growth.
And I guess it makes sense when you think about it, right?
I mean, we're all human beings, our bodies must not be the only thing built for forward motion, our minds are, too, you know?
If you're not growing, you're not learning, and you're not being challenged.
No one likes feeling stagnant.
Brad: Hey, babe. How you doing?
Anna: Exactly the same as the last time you asked me.
All hail president Trump.
So, if you're really unhappy, I encourage you to find the ways in which you can grow.
I mean, where do you feel stuck.
Is it intellectually, physically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally?
And how can you push yourself in each of these areas to evolve into the right you that you know you wanna be?
Is it strengthening a friendship? Is it taking a lyra hoop class?
Is it adopting as many cats as you can legally adopt in your state?
Whatever it is, all you have to do is keep growing, and you will be so much happier. I promise.
I'm Anna Akana. Stay awesome, Gotham.
And before you leave, I just wanna let you know I recently did a collab with Crowdmade.
Really love them. If you don't know them, you should check them out.
The Corridor merch, especially, I'm a big fan of.
We made a happiness cat prescription bottle design.
It's very limited, it's only up for fifteen days and it's made to order.
So, get it while you can, and then it's gone.
Go to Crowdmade.com/AnnaAkana to get your bottle of happiness.
See, ties in with the video. I know what I'm doing.
Already said my outro. Cool.
Cool, bye. Go buy some stuff.
