  • You know the rule of real estate: location, location, location.

  • But in the US, after years of housing markets struggles, prices are ramping up, and there're fewer and fewer locations, where buyers can get bang for their buck.

  • Experts say, "Don't call it a bubble, because there are still deals to be found, but overvaluation is becoming an issue."

  • According to real estate analytics from CoreLogic, an overvalued home market is one in which home prices are 10% or more above what's considered affordable.

  • And that's defined by per capita income in the area.

  • And this overvaluation problem is really an issue of supply.

  • Builders are not building enough homes for the lower and middle parts of the market.

  • And they're really focusing on the upper-end of the market, where they're building a lot of homes, because there is good margins in that part.

  • The most overvalued market in the country: Austin, Texas. Home prices have surged a staggering 42.3% over what is considered affordable.

  • Want to live elsewhere deep in the heart of Texas?

  • Well, prepare to dig deep in the heart of your wallet.

  • Home prices in Houston and San Antonio also make the list.

  • In Philadelphia, home prices have risen faster than almost any other city in the country since last year.

  • And prices in the city of brotherly love, clock in at 14.3% over affordable levels.

  • The nation's capital's population has risen by about 800 thousand over the past ten years, but Washington D.C.'s housing inventory hasn't caught up.

  • And that has pushed housing prices to about 19% above the affordability level. And it's not just larger metropolitan areas that make the list, in Tennessee, Knoxville home prices have soared over the past several years.

  • And in Nashville, potential home buyers are singing the blues, facing a housing market that's 12% over what qualifies as affordable.

You know the rule of real estate: location, location, location.
