  • Hello this is Nick Andre welcoming you to another screencast. In this screencast we will be

  • covering skills integrated challenged

  • 6.8.1

  • planning subnets and configuring ip addresses

  • In this lab we've been asked to implement the standard lab topology but

  • with the new ip addressing scheme

  • you'll be using many of the skills you have learned including the VLSM

  • ip configuration

  • and troubleshooting

  • to help with the vlsm part

  • i devised a spreadsheet

  • when it comes to address allocation

  • an address calculation

  • to begin this lab I am going to open up the Packet Tracer activity window

  • to see

  • what they're asking us to accomplish

  • they specified under task one so we are given an address block a one ninety two

  • dot one sixty eight

  • dot twenty-three

  • dot zero slash twenty four

  • and we must provide for the existing networks as well as featured networks so

  • what i have done is they've taken this area right here

  • and i have mapped it out over to my spreadsheet

  • so subnet zero are for sublet will represent the existing student land

  • which contain sixty usable host

  • i added to to this number

  • address the network address as well as the broadcast address

  • there's also going to be some room for future growth when it comes to the

  • student land

  • some making that my subnet one

  • and according to the

  • packet tracer activity

  • this future student land is supposed to go up to

  • a total of thirty host

  • the next subnet, subnet two

  • is going to contain or represent the existing ISP's LAN

  • which has a server and the ISP's router

  • and that he will have a total of fourteen host

  • the forth subnet, subnet three

  • will be the future ISP's LAN and that'll container totaled eight host

  • and lastly subnet four

  • which will represent the existing WAN

  • of a total of four host addresses

  • miami scroll further down the list of things today on

  • and this next section

  • we are told how we are to configure our interfaces for each of these devices

  • once again to make a simple for us

  • i devised a spreadsheet

  • to break down

  • two-three local area networks

  • into more mandible tables

  • so the first local area network i'm calling the existing student land

  • which will have three devices pc one day

  • pc one b

  • as well as or two

  • the next local area network

  • is called the existing i a speedy and that has two devices the server

  • what will act as a d_n_a_ server as well as an age tdpc ever

  • and then the eyes peas router are one

  • the other lam

  • technically is a win who joins those two previous lambs together

  • and not only has two devices on it

  • are one

  • and arturo

  • and on those routers

  • we have the serial interfaces they're connected together to establish the swim

  • cell

  • i got this information from the activity window i'll like using the spreadsheet

  • kazi disney ability to manage

  • and calculate the address is required to configure these devices

  • to begin this activity and we need to calculate

  • the new subnet addresses

  • for these existing liens as well as future lance

  • so let me get rid of the p_t_a_ activity would know

  • let's put our focus into our spreadsheet

  • remember that we are given an i_p_o_ address block of one ninety two

  • dot one sixty eight

  • dot twenty-three

  • dot zero

  • slash twenty four

  • the requirements for repeat

  • area network can be found in this table

  • and someone over to my next

  • worksheet called address calculation

  • and here you can see that my address block

  • was specified unreal three

  • and in the fourth octet

  • that's my host octet nine oh this is my host octet

  • because this is a slash twenty four

  • address block so stymie the very first twenty four bits

  • that is

  • the first psychic and third octet

  • are the network portion

  • that i'm not allowed to touch

  • since i'm allowed to touch the fourth octet because that represents the hope

  • host portion

  • i have broken and out into the eight columns that represent each bit

  • of this octet

  • remember subnet zero

  • was the existing student

  • land

  • and they need is a total of sixty two host addresses

  • system given host addresses

  • i might come into this role really

  • anna click on the very bottom box on the far right corner

  • the reason why i'm picking this boxes because this represents my subnet mask

  • and because i'm dealing with sixty to host addresses i have to ask myself one

  • question

  • how many best must i'd leave behind

  • to accommodate

  • sixty to host

  • so let's say if i leave this first bit behind

  • what would the size of my subnet d

  • according to my spreadsheet

  • the size of the subnet

  • is going to be

  • too

  • total host addresses

  • if i were just to leave the last bit behind

  • to host addresses are not enough to accommodate

  • the first subnet

  • so what happens if i believe the last two bits along

  • well that gives me for

  • so to raise to two bits gives me four host addresses

  • still not enough

  • let me try for the next one

  • well now on leaving three dates behind

  • not touching them

  • to raise the three gives the eight still not enough

  • let me leave for pits behind

  • to raise the forgets b_-sixteen still not enough

  • then really five deaths of

  • to raise the five disney thirty-two i'm getting closer

  • but still not enough

  • so let's see what happens if at least six states behind

  • so when i leave six pits behind to raise this excuse me sixty four

  • and that's just about right

  • so what do i do with these other two

  • that's when it comes to my subnet

  • the only way computer knows where the network portion anne's and where the

  • host pushing against

  • is by using zeros and ones

  • any zero underneath and i_p_ bit

  • represents the host portion

  • any i_p_ debt that has a one underneath it represents that the network portion

  • somewhat apo one here

  • and the one here

  • when i do this my spiritual automatically color

  • sells above it

  • to a bright red color

  • this caller indicates that these are

  • debts are going to be used to represent myself netmask

  • now my goal

  • is the cackling with network address is going to be

  • and what the broadcast address could it be

  • with these two pieces of information

  • i know what my usable ranges my first feasible addresses can be the first

  • address after the network address

  • and my last sees a black dresses go into the address right before the broadcast

  • since this is my first subnet

  • i'm going to assign it

  • the very first address of his address book

  • which would be zeros

  • a network address contains all zeros in host portion as well

  • so let me put some zeros in here

  • and i've dealt with

  • spreadsheet to automatically take these binary members and comforting back in a

  • decimal

  • food network address of sub-zero is going to be one ninety two

  • one sixty eight

  • dot twenty-three

  • dot zero

  • it's going to have a subnet mask of two fifty five

  • dot g_-fifty five

  • dot t_-fifty five

  • dot one ninety two

  • let me pick or disinformation

  • onto my address allocation worksheet

  • angle to row four under the network address block my type of one ninety two

  • topped one sixty eight

  • dot twenty-three dot zero remember this is where address block originally began

  • cannot fill out the broadcast address just yet

  • but i can fill out the so that mask for the existing student land

  • by coming down here

  • to wrote twelve

  • under column f

  • let me change the so it's two fifty five dot g_-fifty five dot g_-fifty five dot

  • one ninety two

  • under the using that information later when i come figure my interfaces

  • alright cannot fill anything else now

  • the sea

  • device one ace facets of a is going to the first usable address

  • the first usable address is the address right after the network actress

  • if my network addresses one nineteen doubt one sixty dot twenty-three dot t_

  • rowe

  • my first usable do one ninety two

  • dot one sixty

  • dot twenty three

  • connects usable

  • would be one ninety two dot one sixty eight dot twenty-three dot chip

  • what about the last usable

  • in order for me to know what the less usable addresses i'm attacked with the

  • broadcast address so let me go back to my address calculation

  • worksheet

  • and the definition of broadcast address because when you have all wants and the

  • host portion

  • these dates right here

  • represent the host portion

  • because these are the dates that have zeros underneath it for the subnet mask

  • so let me change them so they're all warrants

  • savell one here

  • po one here

  • and the one there

  • and a few other ones right here

  • when i had an er

  • my decimal

  • has changed from a zero

  • to a sixty three

  • the important thing here is the red bits did not change

  • those red bizarre once used to identify

  • the difference sublets

  • as long as the network address in the broadcast address contained at both

  • the same

  • to read debts they belong to the same logical address

  • because they belong to the same logical address they did communicate well with

  • each other so let me go back to the address allocation table

  • and now i can fill out the broadcast address cell

  • furrow four

  • one ninety two dell point sixty eight dot twenty three

  • dot sixty three

  • and now they know the broadcast address i'm noah my last usable addresses

  • country

  • that's going to be a sixty two

  • or dot sixty two

  • found using shorthand because in this column

  • i put one ninety two dot one sixty eight dot twenty three above it

  • indicating that that

  • pre lubes

  • the values that i typed out here

  • however you create your spreadsheet or whatever you do to calculate your work

  • to get your i_p_ addresses

  • is entirely up to you

  • to each of their own

  • now the accomplished existing student manager

  • i must accomplished a future student

  • which is the next largest subnet

  • remember he always start with the largest network can you work your way

  • down

  • if you look at this list it was all organized for you

  • from the largest

  • down to the smallest always remembered add to ticket total hollis actresses

  • the cell so if this column is the values you will use

  • they calculate your network addresses as well as yourself netmask

  • so let's look at some

  • subnet one the future student name

  • the total house address is a need for the sublet is thirty

  • if i do this and order

  • if this network addresses one ninety two dot one sixty eight dot twenty three dot

  • zero

  • and that's the first address

  • and the last address is one ninety two dell point sixty eight dot twenty three

  • dash sixty three

  • then

  • the next address

  • would represent

  • the network address for the future student land because that's the next

  • subnet

  • so one ninety two doubt one sixty eight dot twenty-three dot sixty four

  • which is the next address after the broadcast actress let's see what that

  • looks like in binary

  • so now once again let me go back to the address calculation worksheet

  • and let me put adhere

  • a sixty four that's a zero on the one twenty eight

  • ano one and the sixty-four column

  • great

  • and then zeros thereafter

  • originally my subnet mask was the one

  • anna one here

  • and then all zeros

  • animal met we're going to revisit that

  • but for now

  • i want you noticed that

  • this one

  • in this era

  • seetha next subnet mask

  • almost have to do was change the very first brad pitt

  • to the next valley

  • several desi wrote old one

  • phenomena next subject

  • this little

  • bit magic a few well

  • allows us to jump ahead to a different subnets without half mechanically wrong

  • but in this exercise we are fast to map out halt existing and future networks

  • so will take my time at the knees on as i go

  • just so we become comparable villa sound

  • speak you know which v alice m

  • stands for variable lankford

  • let's look at some that one again

  • according to our allocation table

  • sublet one only needs a total of thirty host address

  • let's go back to the calculation worksheet

  • thirty host addresses

  • according to my subnet size for some that one

  • with the subnet mask of one one panels here's afterwards

  • at sixty four i don't need all sixty-four addresses

  • so i asked myself

  • how many zeros do i need to leave behind or how many bits tony to leave behind

  • for the host

  • to accommodate

  • thirty-two

  • total host at recess

  • let me clear out this

  • subnet mask

  • so i can see this in action

  • early just one bit behind them on that have to go

  • and relief to bits but i know how far

  • emily three bits behind a hive eight

  • another for us

  • disney sixteen

  • and five

  • well look at that if only five days behind

  • i'll have rooms to accommodate

  • the future student land

  • so once i comedy espace amanda fill out the remaining spaces

  • or blocks if you will sells with all wants

  • interesting when i get this

  • now i have three red cells

  • pauline needed was thirty two

  • thirty-two host allowed me to borrow one extra bit

  • from the host portion by borrowing has one extra bit i'm allowed to

  • make more subjects

  • in fact this year rate here is konami to make two additional sons this amount

  • currently on

  • as well as the next up

  • let's record this information

  • my subnet mask is a two fifty five

  • dot to fifty-five dot two fifty five

  • two twenty four

  • amigo the address allocation worksheet

  • and they come down here groups

  • i don't have that record it

  • i really don't care to record it

  • i suppose i could create a new column right here to record it if i needed it

  • for later

  • this makes it easier for somebody else linotype and subnet mask

  • and we said the ritual is two fifty five deputy fire dept at five dot one ninety

  • two

  • and this was to thirty-five dot fifty-five dot two t five dot two twenty

  • four

  • all it really care about to accomplish this lab urges the existing

  • uh... lands and lands but since we're being thorough

  • let me include that table

  • okay now that they are out

  • properly formatted and i can get a financial aid or let's go back and see

  • if we could figure out the broadcast address for the six future student when

  • subnet one that is sells click on the address calculation

  • remember buying

  • definition of broadcast addresses when you have all once in the host part

  • this is my host part

  • dictated to me by the subnet mask

  • so need to put all once in there

  • and when i do that

  • i get a decimal number of dot ninety five

  • that's the number we come back to my cable m record underneath the broadcast

  • column for something that one since one ninety two dot one sixty eight

  • twenty-three dot ninety five

  • now that i know that address

  • i can calculate the next network address for subnet chale

  • which is going to be

  • one ninety two dot one sixty dot twenty-three dot ninety six

  • the reason why it's ninety six is because i'm keeping everything all

  • packed together tightly

  • and in order

  • start with the largest work my way down to the smallest

  • connects address it's available as one ninety two dot one sixty eight dot

  • twenty three

  • dot ninety-six and this is going to be the network address that in twenty years

  • to represent my aspect

  • let's go back to the worksheet

  • did some calculations subnet kill

  • patsy and ninety-six his aides here on the one twenty eight

  • pull one in the sixty four

  • anyone under thirty two

  • pcl that one that i told you was going to be that one bit

  • till it is going to use latest representing other subnet

  • is being used right now for subnet jail

  • the question is

  • harmony hosts will this existing honesty

  • how many holes for this summit need to have

  • to be able to accommodate

  • p needs for the existing i espy's lamps

  • well according to our table

  • or in your total of fourteen addresses

  • so let me go back to the calculation cable

  • since i'm given host addresses

  • let me go to the some netbox starting on the right side

  • and work my way to the left

  • if i leave one bit left alone

  • they just need to know

  • relief to bits let me give me four

  • at least three dislike is dat

  • n_f_l_ e four bits

  • tuscany kidney sixteen

  • that's tyson that's all i need

  • self from here on out

  • i'm gonna fill out the rest of us

  • with once

  • by doing so i gain additional red bit additional subnet that that once again

  • apologies for subnet three

  • let me put his hero here because i already have the network address from

  • ninety-six like we established in the last worksheet

  • and according to by definition network addresses when you have all zeros and

  • the host

  • so they put them in there for us

  • and there we have it

  • so the network address for some it to his one ninety two dot one sixty eight

  • dot twenty-three

  • dot ninety six

  • the subnet mask is two fifty five

  • dot two fifty five

  • dot t_-fifty five

  • two forty

  • so let me put that here

  • let me also put it rate down here

  • because this is an existing land and i will have to configure

  • okay

  • to finish this up

  • we're going to need to calculate

  • the broadcast address self

  • let's go ahead and character to broadcast address and the reason i say

  • to finish this up is because look at what they're asking me to set up

  • the servers fast ethernet is the second to last season pple

  • and the router is the last usable

  • well in order for me to find out what the last

  • addresses or the less usable

  • i need to calculate with the broadcast address will be

  • so let me go back to address calculation

  • and we note the broadcast addresses when you have all ones and the host portion

  • this area represents the hose portion because i have zeros on anything for

  • myself netmask

  • cell let me put it all my ones

  • and i get one eleven for the broadcast at risk

  • and he put that in their so one ninety two at one sixty eight twenty-three

  • doubt one one one

  • tells me at the last usable

  • is going to be

  • dot tam one camp

  • and the number before that is going to be one oh nine

  • alright the next seven at subnet three is gonna represent the future highest

  • peak land it's going to give us groomed to grow

  • uh... we know the network address is going to be the next available address

  • for the seven acess commit one ninety two

  • dot one sixty eight

  • twenty three

  • doubt one twelve

  • don't know the broadcast is just yet suddenly go back my worksheet calculate

  • that out

  • before i go back to the worksheet i'm gonna make of reference at this point in

  • this teacher land i should say

  • is predicted to have a total of eight host addresses

  • all right

  • let me go back to the worksheet calculate this out

  • subnet three eight

  • we know the network address is going to be zero

  • one one

  • because it is going to one twelve

  • and that's what one twelve looks like a binary

  • followed by all zeros

  • very good

  • because of dealing with post addresses i got to ask myself

  • how many deaths must leave behind

  • to accommodate

  • total host addresses well fairly warm behind a get-tough

  • relief to behind a get for

  • badly three behind thank you kitty

  • which is right on the money

  • zero waste

  • after that all i need to do is fill in all six

  • to let them know that this part is included into the network portion

  • seige subnet mask appeared to be five deputy five deputy five dot two forty

  • eight

  • me take that information

  • and recorded

  • at my table

  • for the future i s basic geetha

  • two fifty five

  • to fifty-five dot two forty eight

  • nellis calculate the broadcaster address

  • come back to the worksheet

  • broadcast addresses when i have all once and a host

  • this area's my host because i have zeros underneath that for the subnet mask

  • hopefully by now you're getting the idea

  • so the broadcast address is one nineteen

  • let's put that back in my worksheet one ninety two at one sixty eight

  • dot twenty-three doubt one one nine

  • if i was watching this video i would posit right now

  • after what i've learned so far i would try to calculate

  • the addresses for some therefore

  • and sex

  • then push play n c how well i did

  • here's you chance

  • palsy

  • c_d_ could figure it out

  • there when you're done

  • petplan

  • welcome back

  • here we go let's look at the existing land

  • we're going to be doing subnet four

  • i know the network address for this summit is going to be one ninety two

  • dot one sixty eight

  • dot twenty three

  • dot one twenty

  • i know it's only one twenty because that's the next available address after

  • the last subnets broadcast actress

  • i'm gonna make 'em preference

  • that the total holes for this when as i'm going to be four

  • typically one

  • plans only have four total host addresses

  • it all depends on how things are configured

  • so here i a m

  • and subnet for

  • i know the address today

  • one twenty soundtrack cover

  • one twenty back into decimal

  • when i see that there are a m at one twenty sai film address with zeros

  • and i asked myself the same question

  • to race to a power

  • who's going to be too

  • could be able to accommodate

  • four total host address

  • to raise it to you

  • disney for so i need to leave to host this behind

  • suddenly these two behind

  • 'cause the host that's on the far right

  • and i work my way to the left

  • they were subnet bits i worked my way to the from the left to the right

  • after i've

  • found a number of this i need to leave behind i've philip rest of the cells up

  • with ones

  • indicate that these are the network gets

  • my subnet mask is two fifty five dot to thirty-five dot g_-fifty five dot

  • two fifty two

  • as typically the standard when it comes to lands

  • point-to-point if you will

  • so i recorded that information there

  • i'm also going to come down here recorded here

  • just so i can reference that later when i'm configuring the way i'm link

  • now they're asking for the last usable

  • and that should be used for the interface are one

  • and they're asking for the first usable for the arches

  • serial interface

  • i can tell you at the first what's going to be

  • because the network addresses one ninety two dot one six e dot twenty three dot

  • one twenty for this network

  • the foresees ables kindly one twenty-one

  • now i can also tell you that the last usable

  • is going to be one twenty tel

  • and the reason why i can tell you that is this network only handle four total

  • host addresses

  • for the network address is one twenty

  • that's the first address

  • the first usable

  • is one twenty one

  • the less usable as one twenty two aol and gives me three so far

  • so the broadcast address should be

  • one ninety two dot one sixty twenty-three

  • dot

  • one twenty three

  • let's go back and verify that

  • so let me go to my address calculation worksheet

  • and i know

  • bynoe the broadcast addresses would have all once for the host

  • and according to my nifty little so it does the dust bowl conversion for me one

  • twenty three is the number

  • interesting

  • now what i'm going to do

  • dumont likely gonna populate the network address broadcast address for the other

  • two future wimps to real simple for me to carry clay clearly for wide

  • um... but if you want to know how to do it

  • just go back and we watch

  • the video

  • uh... under the

  • address calculation park

  • so i know the broadcast address can be

  • one twenty seven

  • with us on the message to the decide got to decide that kitty felde detail

  • and that's what must be one ninety two dot one sixty eight dot twenty-three at

  • one twenty

  • and then the

  • broadcast address for this one should be twenty three dot

  • well i think it's one thirty one

  • with the same subnet mask

  • let me say this

  • may go back to my address work

  • just to show you that i was making anything up for him

  • i know this to be true automatically

  • because it's the same thing

  • at some point connection and we do the same thing for this one down here

  • now i decide to go left to right because i'm just copying

  • what's in some that for

  • now week said that the network address must be

  • a-one here maybe

  • and then this one must be a one here

  • and then all scarecrows

  • and it looks like our network addresses a right

  • one twenty for further

  • sublet five

  • and one twenty eight for seven at six

  • let me just check to see if i did that correctly

  • we're good restricted broadcast address

  • repo all ones here

  • one twenty seven for that

  • subnet and what about this one

  • one thirty one midtech that out

  • one twenty seven one thirty one

  • like a cent

  • feel free to re watch the video

  • and to refill comparable doing that

  • now that was a lot of work

  • just to create our chart

  • the trusting these charts you can be really handy because when it comes back

  • to configuring are devices overhear packet tracer the biggest problem going

  • to have his what addresses do i need to use

  • for my network to be compliant now i know a lot of your tell me

  • well packet racism little particular

  • black must i really use the first night p address for my

  • pc

  • and the answer to that is no as long as you use

  • anne and rest with the appropriate range

  • so they're all within the same logical network

  • but i must say

  • if you create this work over here

  • you can document

  • you can put this on line for people to read debts in your corporate network

  • so that when a good at it pc

  • or need to troubleshoot a pc on their network

  • they know what's the number should be

  • so

  • doing the documentation allows you to properly plan your network

  • as well as troubleshoot

  • if not modifier update

  • so i would suggest

  • creating some kind of standard

  • which all of your archie people will follow

  • any stress become really handy

  • so let's put them in action

  • in order to do this anita connect all my devices together

  • so may come down here to lightning bolt

  • not click on the solid before click on hold the control kate

  • apricot click on pc one day

  • click on fast ethernet

  • click on my switch

  • here just in a number of file

  • it's the first pc because the first part of the switch

  • amigo the second pc click on fast ethernet

  • and they go to switch may click on switched to sorry

  • port two of the switch

  • i see i got some red lights nothing's happening that's indicating that you do

  • the pc's are turned off

  • or their interface corners are turned off or maybe both

  • limit click on the switch

  • nauman a click on the fast ethernet

  • zero slash twenty four

  • and the reason why i'm doing that

  • is because just like the router gets the last usable address philosophy at the

  • last two usable switch

  • according to the documentation this router needs to be connected to the

  • switch

  • via the fast ethernet zero slash zero so i click on that

  • okay unfortunately i have to take the escape you know

  • because from here on out i mean if any is across every cable

  • to connect

  • the server

  • to the router

  • or i'm gonna use a cereal

  • connector

  • to connect the two routers together

  • saw the click on the cross of the people

  • now if you wonder why it's across or cable not sure if that is because they

  • were outer is technically a computer

  • as an operating system

  • ramp

  • storage aneil accepts input

  • to like device is connected together you must use across a repeal

  • and according to documentation that needs to be fast ethernet zero slash

  • zero

  • and they go back to my mediums and this time i'm gonna find little reds eagle

  • line

  • it's actually a lowering zigzag line if you will and this woman accused of all

  • of the clock conduct the scalding p_c_p_ serial connector

  • comic-con combat

  • when you click on the serial gdi cd

  • you must

  • click on the first rounder

  • that's going to have the d_c_ east side of the connection

  • so in this case much highest p is going to be the d_c_ e of the serial

  • connection

  • so let me click on that

  • many click on serial zero slash zero slash zero once again i'm only doing

  • that because that's what was told to me by packet tracer

  • now it may come down to our children

  • and let me once again click on the serial zero slash zero slash zero

  • little future no

  • when you click on the first router that becomes the d_c_

  • therefore the other and becomes d teepee

  • i have everything all

  • physically connected together with some media hopefully i used to crack medium

  • the next step i'm going to do is bring up the devices thing to figure that

  • an order for me to read my chart

  • when i come back over here to my spreadsheet them to resize it

  • silicon staying up with me

  • long configuring

  • let's start with pc one x

  • pc one able longs to the studio land

  • and according to my cable pc one day

  • spassky ten at

  • gets the first usable address

  • soas click on pc one day

  • grab my dialog box you bring it down here for ya

  • as the its charm dot

  • to limit the power button

  • all right past that

  • next to him it is not click on the config path

  • them to come over here and click on the fast ethernet

  • underneath the interface

  • and i noticed let me just rich dad out to still a little bit for him

  • so i noticed that there is no check bark next to the on box

  • so not only did it turn off my computer but they also turned off my interface

  • card

  • now it's turned on let's configured

  • they're asking for nine p address

  • well we said it should be one ninety two

  • dot one sixty dot twenty three

  • dot one

  • asking for some that masked identity guest says this is a classy address but

  • would no longer killed with class full addresses

  • pens need to change subnet mask odes to fifty-five dot to fifty-five dot

  • fifty-five dot one ninety two

  • all right

  • now i need to configure the gateway for this device as well as the d_m_s_ so let

  • me go up to the global settings

  • and where it says gateway underneath the static option

  • i need to type in the gateway address for this network

  • remember

  • the gateway for network

  • is the routers interface for that local area network

  • according to our table

  • are to is the router for this network

  • interface that connects this local area network for our two is the f_a_a_

  • serious last year

  • so we should be configured to be one ninety two doubt one sixty

  • twenty three

  • dot sixty two

  • the p_m_s_ ever

  • is gonna be

  • on the ice peace architects and that's typically the way it is for home

  • networks

  • uh... unfortunately

  • it's not going to be stored locally son ordered communicated d_s_ dean s ever

  • have to go cross my routers

  • sold the address for this

  • device is going to be in a different network

  • and the address should be one ninety two dot one sixty eight dot twenty-three

  • dot one oh nine

  • now and know that because

  • like i said

  • it should be in a different network the existing highest p

  • because on that network it's going to be the server

  • which has an i_p_o_ address of

  • dot one oh nine

  • okay

  • and delete pc one a is configured if not i can always come back and find out what

  • i'm missing

  • let me close out of that

  • and let me come figure one b

  • uh... my box bring it down

  • karema unit on

  • click the config tab

  • click on fast ethernet

  • scroll over

  • make sure there's little check next to me on

  • come down to the i_r_s_ p address block

  • and the new research this window out so it'll be easier for me to read it

  • and what i have four

  • one-b_ it should be one ninety two doubt one sixty eight dot twenty-three dot

  • chale

  • the hard work for this exercise are for the slab

  • was really developing the addresses after that it's pretty much downhill

  • just as long as you know what i consider things

  • so let me go onto the settings

  • gateway address can be one ninety two dot one sixty eight dot twenty-three

  • that too

  • it should be the same address to be used to be on the computer because all i have

  • is one gateway on this network

  • for the d_n_a_ server it's going to the same one ninety two dot one sixty eight

  • f twenty three dot one oh nine

  • remember the d_n_a_ serve restored over my eyes peas network

  • okay those two were configured

  • as close as dialog box

  • and now i'm in a venture into configuring the are two central router

  • salameh click on that

  • grab my dialogue box burn it down here for you guys to see it

  • brothers booted up

  • ice is a little green light underneath this power switch

  • so let me click on the config tap

  • first romantically africa figure is going to be the fast ethernet zero slash

  • zero so click on that

  • reported check next to the on box

  • when we come down here to the i_p_o_ address box

  • and according to this this is the gateway from my local area network and i

  • configured the other devices to use this address for the gateway

  • and the subnet mask for this should all be the same

  • for this network

  • since i'm here i'm gonna go ahead and configure the serial zero slash zero

  • slash zero interface

  • see that was nice about doing although other planning on the spreadsheet

  • save myself an extra

  • here configure both interfaces

  • i need to turn on the center face

  • i'm not going to set the clock rate because remember this did g_t_e_ set

  • that doesn't get the clock re we remember that

  • doesn't have the letter c_ in its acronym

  • d cd

  • what do you keep

  • the student teaching the

  • no clock

  • no cd

  • clinic click in the i_p_o_ address block terry sorry

  • uh... text box

  • and this is our chale

  • wherein the serial zero slash zero slash zero

  • and according to my spreadsheet

  • this address should be one ninety two doubt one sixty eight dot twenty-three

  • okay

  • and the click on the subnet mask it took gas because the better

  • the other in the face was configured to have a one ninety two subnet mask dot

  • like elites wiki usually does the cast poorly so we have t_-fifty five deputy

  • five deputy thunder two fifty two

  • it's very difficult for away and connection

  • and let me close out of this

  • okay

  • idea d's minimum comeback after here oakland click on the high-speed

  • grandest box

  • as usual greenlight once again so the router is turned on

  • limit click on the config tab

  • let me give the serial interface the stars

  • let me turn it on

  • member with connecting cable up this is the first interface to get the cable

  • according to the packet tracer activity where no this becomes the d_c_ eastside

  • if it is the d_c_ e_r_ in pc eastside we must set the clock rate

  • so let me cheese

  • not set

  • sixty four hundred

  • okay

  • ware says i p address them to go back to my

  • and i see that this should be one ninety two dot one sixty eight that twenty

  • three

  • dot one

  • twenty chip

  • and they could figure some that mask of two fifty two at the end

  • and melanie configure the other fast ethernet zero slash zero

  • all right i see the supporters turned off so let me quickly on

  • and the i_p_o_ address box i'm gonna type in

  • existing winds

  • sorry the existing high-speed lands

  • or once fasted

  • zero slash c l_ should be

  • one ninety two captain sixty dot twenty-three doubt onepass

  • subnet mask

  • once again took a guest against poorly

  • this network should have a subnet mask of two forty

  • okay

  • that's configured

  • now have been set up in a static routes yet

  • undisputed systematically

  • connected devices together

  • configure the interfaces then at static routes or dynamic graphs depending on

  • your cup of tea if you will

  • this click on the deal server

  • let's configure that

  • okay

  • this was always tricky to find out the strand are turned off

  • up there's the power

  • so it looks like it's turned off in the clip the switch

  • coming to life love eclectic config cap

  • here i got a whole bunch of things to configure but the first thing i think

  • i'm going to configure has steadfastly through net

  • still the click on that interface

  • anitha scroll over i see the porch turned off think that really nastiness

  • slept in today

  • nagar come down here the i_p_o_ address block

  • click in there

  • and i'm going to take care and that's the one ninety two telephone sixty eight

  • twenty-three dot one oh nine

  • he got that information once again for my spreadsheet

  • uh... the should be two forty

  • uh... but this also needs a gateway remember this is going to be serving

  • information to the world's there's gonna be serving it has to go to the router

  • first

  • togetherness network

  • so let me go onto the settings under global

  • and where it says gateway i'm gonna type in

  • one ninety two dot one sixty eight twenty-three doubt wanted

  • that's what i can figure the router today

  • that's what it must be

  • if this is the gateway by the way out of the network

  • interesting d_m_s_ over

  • well this device is

  • the d_n_a_ sector

  • so i could put a loopback addresses your technically

  • then save on the performance

  • i better just use the i_p_ address of this device

  • to keep things simplistic

  • by the way in the world world if you want to use to d_m_s_ error for yourself

  • you put in the loop back at risk

  • nationally you would use another d_n_a_ server

  • for your d_n_a_ center

  • so this way you establish a hierarchy

  • but there's no other guinness around this networks on skid row this one and

  • they've asked me to set up h_t_t_p_

  • so under services at one o'clock on h_t_t_p_

  • annabella dot next to h_t_t_p_ on

  • and has already won for h_t_t_p_ s so that's good

  • and they also asked me to set up a d_m_s_ ever

  • submit click on that

  • how much on on the service

  • and i believe they told me they wanted to be

  • domain name address to be

  • he'll dash server

  • uh... dot example

  • dot com

  • and the ag p address for the server

  • prefer this website

  • is going to be the actual eagles server itself which is one ninety two dot one

  • sixty eight

  • dot

  • twenty-three dot one oh nine

  • now you might be saying

  • he doesn't know what stuff

  • well it does know itself

  • but remember

  • decide p address is used

  • for the of their

  • devices on the other networks

  • that we have poignant them too

  • this d_n_a_ server

  • let me just say ad for second how better explained that by using the topology

  • arsons records and too

  • our table which is good

  • on the clothes out

  • now what i wanted to say it was

  • pc one any

  • npc one b

  • we configure them to have a d_m_s_ address

  • for this evil surfer

  • so if i were to go to pc one day anti-gang ecol dash server dot example

  • dot com

  • the first thing is going to do as a result that i uh... that domain name it

  • when i p address

  • so it's going to go to the domain

  • nameserver which is the eagle server

  • and their legal service would go through its phone book

  • we just added a record in the left phonebook answers l

  • this address is one ninety two dot one sixty eight dot twenty-three dot one oh

  • nine

  • it's gonna send that information back to pc one day

  • now pc one a canal package

  • the request

  • and to a packet

  • and sent it

  • unfortunately

  • going get to the arch your router anne archer router won't know what to do with

  • it

  • because we have an established routing table

  • celeste configure our kill

  • devastated grout

  • and i want

  • everything in anything

  • to go to the i escaped

  • cyclic on the config tab

  • i'm a click on static underneath routing

  • and my wild cards are going to be zero dash zero zero zero

  • at four zeros

  • so any network

  • any size summer sublet mass is going to be

  • those for zeros

  • i've done a hot potato

  • or jump too

  • the one ninety two dot one sixty eight dot twenty-three

  • one twenty-two

  • that was the i_p_o_ dress for my eye espy's serial connection

  • let me click add so that's my routing table

  • and let me get close

  • now let me go to the r one highest paid

  • and i need to configure a static route back

  • so now archie will pass the packet to our one are won't pass to the server

  • the several pass a background one and are one will know how to send their

  • packet back because he doesn't know

  • where their network it's so i need to teach it

  • about that network so underneath the routing section of click on static

  • and the network addresses where things get a little hairy

  • i need to take it one ninety two dot one sixty eight dot twenty three but i'm not

  • gonna put eight zero afterwards

  • no longer deal with class full addresses

  • this is a class lists

  • the network address for the existing student one all and

  • is one ninety two dot one sixty eight dot twenty-three

  • dot zero ironically

  • nine make a big point about that because in future labs that could have been dot

  • sixty four

  • dot ninety-six dot one twelve

  • in this case it just so happen to be that way

  • to further illustrate this point

  • the sublet mass is no longer to fifty-five dot to fifty-five dot tooth

  • defied god zero

  • but rather

  • one ninety two

  • because that's the subnet mask

  • of this network address

  • and that's what the router will and

  • the packets with

  • to determine if they have a match anis roundtable

  • to not only do you have to use the appropriate network address

  • but also

  • that network subnet mask

  • classless of the last time

  • you've got to be careful

  • because networks could have the airing mass

  • all right

  • and next top well that's going to be are tues idea address

  • of one ninety two dot one sixty eight

  • i remember it's got to be on the serial because local delivery will not work

  • otherwise

  • tall one ninety two dot one sixty eight dot twenty-three

  • dot one twenty-one

  • let me click add

  • and let me closed

  • and just terrified of everything in their correctly

  • okay

  • let me grab my activity when don't bring it back over here

  • tells me i have ninety seven percent

  • omit check results and see what else i forgot to do stomach like assessments

  • huh

  • curtis yelling at me that i have it set up a default gateway for one big

  • no biggie

  • and the clothes out of that

  • move this out of the screen

  • click on one day

  • bring this back on the screen

  • goto settings

  • and they're saying that used the wrong address it should've been sixty two

  • and uh... too

  • sorry about that

  • when we close out and

  • i bring this back to our screen i see that i have a hundred percent

  • but folks

  • the reason we're doing this and so we can learn how things behave

  • picture none d_m_s_ annexure non h_t_t_p_

  • so let's see if that actually really works

  • and grab this out here

  • let me go to one a

  • they bring us back over to my screen

  • mummy click on desktop

  • ami open at the web browser

  • and in the year a romantic type in ecol

  • dash server

  • dot example

  • dot com

  • and let me quick dot

  • and i'm hoping some web page might load up

  • uh...

  • and a type in the right address not the first time i made a mistake filamentous

  • fair five that's

  • so details

  • ironically just to follow along

  • it's funny that simulates the real world precursor asleep

  • so we have the eagle services while camille server dot example

  • uh... we have quick links

  • closely

  • won a zeal to communicate

  • by the way the reason why i'm i've taken some time

  • sometimes is routers have to finish establishing each other's tables

  • them click on one day

  • let me see if it works over there gun of the desktop

  • the click on the web browser

  • and type in

  • eagle dash server

  • dot example

  • they should action the really fast if all goes well

  • anecdotes

  • so this concludes our uh...

  • lab skills and rich allen six dot a dot one planning subnets anka figure and i p

  • addresses

  • hopefully you've found the spreadsheet to be helpful

  • i know personally what i do these packet racers

  • forcing i'm going to as my spreadsheet

  • boys creamy sings over and over again

  • just because it makes it nice reference to like the recovery of this

  • by problems are lying to my headrests

  • that may be lying in

  • me typing and something wrong prefer connection something all for art

  • whatever the case they did

  • so this is another screencast brought to you by
