  • As well as a successful acting career behind her, the star's also become a UN ambassador

  • promoting women's rights.

  • She's raising awareness of the HeForShe campaign, which encourages men and boys to speak out

  • in support of gender equality, and she spoke at the United Nations about the initiative.

  • You might be thinking, 'Who is this Harry Potter girl and what is she doing speaking

  • at the U.N?' And it's a really good question; I've been asking myself the same thing. All

  • I know is that I care about this problem and I want to make it better. I was appointed

  • as Goodwill Ambassador for U.N. Women six months ago. And the more I've spoken about

  • feminism the more I have realised that fighting for women's rights has too often become synonymous

  • with man-hating.

  • And I think it is right that I'm paid the same as my male counterparts. I think

  • it is right that I should be able to make decisions about my own body.

  • If we stop defining each other by what we are not

  • and start defining ourselves by who we arewe can all be freer.

  • and this is what HeForShe is about.

  • The star is the first goodwill ambassador to be appointed for UN women and her

  • good natures goes beyond that as well. Over the last few years she's been involved in

  • the promotion of girls' education, having visited Bangladesh and Zambia. Oh Emma we

  • do love you!
