I used to say, "I'm bad at planning," so I didn't plan.

So here is the big idea for today: if you want to change your life, you don't only change your actions, you also change your identity.

Identity means how you see yourself, the story you tell about who you are.

Yes, your brain listens to your story, and your habits follow the story.

Let's make it clear with an easy example.

If you always say, "I'm a procrastinator," you will act like a procrastinator.

Procrastinator means a person who delays work.

They say, "I will do it later." And if you always say, "I'm not good at English," you will avoid speaking English.

I'm improving every day." That small change in words can bring a big change in actions.

No drama, no perfect plan, just small steps.

What do you say to yourself when you fail?

For me it was, "I'm not a morning person." For me it was, "I'm lazy with exercise." And for many English learners it is, "I'm shy," or "I make too many mistakes." So first you name the old story.

Like, "Oh, I see, my brain is telling the old story again." Step 2: choose a new story.

This is choosing what you want to become.

For example, instead of "I'm not a morning person," you can say, "I'm the kind of person who wakes up a little earlier each week." Instead of "I'm bad at English," you can say, "I'm the kind of person who practices English every day even for 5 minutes." It is simple.

Step 3: take one small action that matches the new story.

Identity is not only words, it becomes real when you act.

Consistent means you do it again and again, even when you don't feel like it.

If your new story is, "I'm a person who speaks English," what is one small action?

You can speak one sentence out loud each day.

Yes, like, "Today I feel calm," or "I will do one small step." Or you can record a 10-second voice message for yourself.

Mia, I want to talk about something that stops many people.

Oh yes, they say, "When I feel motivated, I will start." But motivation is like the weather.

Sometimes it's sunny, sometimes it's rainy.

So if you wait for motivation, you might wait forever.

Instead you can build a system, a simple routine.

Routine is something you do in the same way again and again.

You don't need motivation, you just do it.
