The imperative

Today we have Sora, which is an AI model that creates realistic videos from text descriptions.

In American English, we are going to pronounce this with two syllables,

and syllable number one is going to end with an R.

We're going to use that OOR vowel there, and then we're going to end with an UH.

Many of my international students who are speaking English as a second language will say "so rah," because that's the way many, many languages break syllables.

But in the case of American English—and this is a great example here—we are going to say that OOR vowel,

and that is going to be part of syllable one,

and then we're just going to end with the UH.

If you need some help with those sounds, we start with the S.

Tip of the tongue is either behind the top front teeth or pointing down;

and you're going to do that by puckering and then pulling the lips into a square tense shape for that R.

In my case, the tip of my tongue stays low; back of the tongue is pulled high up.

For other people, the tip of the tongue will be flipped back.

And then end with an UH, which is the schwa.

Super fast, super quick, relaxed: UH, UH, UH.
