And today we're counting down our picks for the 10 most brutal Optimus prime moments.

Seven Disarmed Transformers the Skybound comic series has been an absolute delight, with all its moral conflicts, heartwarming moments, and, of course, deeply disturbing brutality.

One moment in particular that has already become iconic occurred when Optimus was broken, bringing the fight to the leaderless Decepticons as they target the human population.

Midway through, the humans confuse Optimus for an enemy and then blast his arm with a rocket launcher, leaving his arm in a truly sorry state before it's utterly annihilated by Skywarp.

Ever the tactician, Optimus decides to turn his weakness into a strength and rips his arm clean off.

Of course, he then proceeds to beat the absolute piss out of Skywarp with it.

Let's end this Transformers Armada like many Transformers series, Armada was always building up to the climactic battle between Optimus and Galvatron.

I fight you not as the leader of the Autobots, but as the leader of all Transformers.

The difference with this one, however, is that the two did not hold back at all.

Noptimas, with the remnants of Unicron whispering in his ear, embraces his violent side and starts literally tearing Galvatron apart bit by bit throughout their fights.

He even goes as far as ripping off his horns and swinging them around like katanas.

Ultimately, he lets his inner pro wrestler out and after snapping Galvatron's neck with a kick, grabs him in a torture rack that nearly breaks him in half.

Gee, you'd think he'd been feuding with this guy for millions of years or something.

Oh, wait, now that's the old Optimus I used to know.

I have nothing left for you, Number five.

Not too long after Hasbro decided to traumatize every child on the planet by killing off their hero, they decided it was time to bring him back.

While traveling in space, Rodimus and the crew come across an Autobot mausoleum ship.

That's already a pretty disturbing concept, but

it gets far, far worse when the decaying corpse of Optimus prime is reanimated and he's corrupted by the Quintessons.

So don't expect any hugs here if you lose.

Autobots all destroyed after whooping Roddy's ass.

He finally comes to his senses and we get to see a semblance of the old Optimus, and

as he urges his former comrades to escape with plans of sacrificing himself to thwart the quintessence trap.

So yeah, instead of putting a band aid over the pain of seeing Optimus die, they doubled down with this absolutely horrifying visual of a zombified Optimus engulfed in the flames of an exploding ship.

Apology non accepted the Transformers the IDW series deviated a lot from what we were already told about the Transformers lore, such as making Galvatron his own character rather than a reborn Meg's.

The ancient Cybertronian wreaked havoc in his conquest, but it was the trio of Optimus, Soundwave, and

Shockingly, however, Optimus sees absolutely no chance at redemption for Galvatron, and so he does the unthinkable.

He ignores his pleas for surrender and blasts him point blank through the gut.

As if that's not enough, he caps it off by ripping off his head as a statement of his victory.

Maybe he just thought he was a headmaster or something, right?

Depending on what kind of Transformers fan you are, you either love or hate the movies.

Sometimes that decision comes down to whether or not you think Optimus should be going around mutilating his opponents.

Well, Scooge saw this side of Optimus, who was clearly irate at what he had done to Bumblebee earlier on.

You will never see Unicorn take this world.

First he gets his face damn near torn off when Optimus presses it against lava.

And when that fails, he takes things up a level.

He delivers one of the most brutal overkills in the series, cutting him up bit by bit before.

Squashing Shockwave Transformers Skybound Prime Again but what can we say?

This incarnation is just hardcore after ripping his own arm off.

As we mentioned earlier in this list, Ratchet offered Optimus a replacement in the form of Megatron's fusion cannon.

by the time they were clashing with Shockwave and his evil machinations, the arm had begun corrupting the Autobot leader.

This leads to him losing his marbles and blacking out mid battle.

When we see the aftermath, we learn that he popped Shockwave's one eyed noggin like a grape.
