I'm going to hold on to my dream and I'm not going to let the darn dream killers take them away.

They put one of the world's largest captive rainforests in a giant bubble in a disused Cornish quarry.

I'm Justin Rolatt and this is 25 years of the Eden Project.

There was birthday cake and streamers at the Eden Project, As well as a 300 strong choir singing Cornwall's unofficial national anthem.

We're in the heart of Cornwall, where the Eden Project transformed a lifeless cliff clay pit into one of the country's most famous tourist attractions.

The site includes two huge enclosures built from geodesic domes, which house one of the largest indoor rainforests in the world.

More than a thousand species have been grown here.

The largest dome is a dizzying 55 meters high.

It's really different from, say, a botanical collection.

We do do a little bit of conservation work, but actually our way is to demonstrate wild landscapes.

So how things might look if you were to visit them for real and then take you on a bit of a journey and how man interacts with those wild landscapes.

In its quarter century, the Eden Project estimates it has had 25 million visitors, including some 750,000 children on school visits.

By the way, the Ruru birds aren't just cute, they also help control pests.

But this place takes a lot of energy to heat.

It was refused a wind turbine, so they drilled down more than 5km to tap into the country's geothermal energy.

This is the water down from 4km down and it comes through here into the pot.

That is about 75 degrees and a little bit of top up with the gas and that is enough to keep this whole place running.

It's taken a while, but it's here in the biomes.

The plants may be flourishing, but all is not well in Eden.

Visitor numbers have halved since the COVID pandemic.

That's led to spiralling losses and the Cornish visitor attraction has shed dozens of staff.

We've still got 370 people here and we're, I think, third or fourth largest employer in Cornwall, so don't knock it.

He believes his project is every bit as inspiring now as.

As it was when it opened, I want every person that comes here to remember they once had a dream of marvelousness.

And the youngsters still believe maybe there is marvelousness.

To see all this and go, people like me built something like this.

I'm not going to let the darn dream killers take them away.

Over the years, the project has introduced new ways to enjoy the sight.

With an average speed of 60 miles an hour, this claims to be the fastest zip wire in England.
