Day 16 of the US and Israel's war on Iran and the consequences of Operation Epic Fury are being felt around the region and indeed the world.

Donald Trump claims the Iranian government appears ready to make a deal, but

in his words, the terms aren't good enough yet.

The American president declined to say what his terms might be, but

stressed that a commitment to abandon any nuclear ambitions must be part of the deal.

Well, speaking on US Television, Donald Trump said US Attacks had demolished most of Iran's main oil hub of Hak Island.

He hinted at future strikes there, which he described as just for fun.

The island, which is a critical economic lifeline for Tehran, has become a focal point in this war.

Well, in response to the attack on Hawk Island, Iran has threatened to further escalate the conflict, calling on the United Arab Emirates to begin evacuating its population away from port zones.

We'll have more on that later in the program, but

first, let's get the very latest from our correspondent Greg McKenzie.

These are the latest images showing missile strikes on what US Central Command says were Iranian military targets as the war enters its third week.

Iran has responded with defiance after US Forces also hit sites on Kharg island, just off Iran's coast.

Around 90% of Iran's oil exports pass through here, with much of it heading to China.

Washington insists only military targets were struck, not the oil facilities themselves.

But the US Says that could change if Iran continues attacking commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy routes.

President Donald Trump is now calling on countries including the uk France and even China, to send warships to help reopen the shipping lanes.

Iran says the strait is only closed to its enemies.

As a matter of fact, the Strait of Hormuz is open.

It is only closed to the tankers and ships belong to our enemies.

Trump warned that countries receiving oil through the route must take care of it.

Appearing to push allies to help secure the passage.

The British government says it's discussing options with allies.

On Saturday, these pictures were taken of American bombers being loaded with weapons at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, but

it's not thought there's been any formal request from the US For British ships to be sent to the Gulf.

The president said Iran may be ready to negotiate an end to the conflict, but

He suggested that any deal would require Iran to abandon its nuclear ambitions.

Trump also raised questions about Iran's new supreme leader, Mujtabar Khamenei, the son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declining to confirm whether he believes he is still alive.

Meanwhile, photos of the six US crew members killed when a military aircraft crashed in western Iraq 3 days ago have now been released.

As the fighting continues, the cost of the conflict is, is already being counted in lives.

And that cost of the conflict is being counted in so many lives in Lebanon because we now know that more than 800 people have been killed in those Israeli strikes since Israel launched its strikes against the Iran backed Hezbollah militants.

That's according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

Hundreds of thousands have also fled their homes since Israel issued mass evacuation orders.

Well, let's cross live to Beirut and speak to our Middle east correspondent Lina Sin Job who is there.

And Lina, let's talk first of all, if we can, about the mediation potential.

We talked yesterday, didn't we, about France's President Macron offering Paris as a location potentially for some sort of mediation between the Lebanese government and the Israelis.

Well, you know, there are some details emerging that we are expecting the talks to take place in the coming few days.

So anytime in the course of the coming week, these talks will take place.

There are two locations suggested either in France or in Cyprus that there will be, you know, three representative of each side.

The Lebanese government is still, still discussing who is going to represent it.

And of course part of the representation should be also taking the green light from another leader of the Shia community here in Lebanon who is Nabih Barry, the speaker of the parliament who heads Al Amal group, which is the parallel, you know, Shia group in Lebanon.

But it's not as powerful as, or armed like Hezbollah.

The issue here at take is, you know, what Hezbollah is going to do to do regarding these direct negotiations.

And if these take place, this is the first time ever we will have like direct negotiations between the Israelis and, and

Two countries that has been at war since the 80s.

So, you know, this is the first time that they would be talking to each other.

The problem is will Hezbollah recognize these talks?

Will Hezbollah abide by the outcomes of these talks and will Hezbollah stop firing RO rockets into Israel and how to stop them?

Because over the past two weeks, you know, for many in Lebanon, Hezbollah proved they're only acting to serve Iranian interests.

They're acting in coordination with Iran and with orders by the Iranians.

Even the Iranians came out just to announce that, you know, they're having coordinated attacks on Israel, which is really putting the whole country at high risk of expanded war.

Well, in the meantime, Iran says it will escalate the conflict, calling on the United Arab Emirates to begin evacuating its population away from the port zones in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah.

Well, let's cross live now to Dubai and speak to our correspondent.

As a day, Macheri, as a day, are we seeing evacuations along those port areas or not?

There are reports that oil operations in Fujairah, for example, have restarted.

There hasn't been an official comment from the government here in the United Arab Emirates, but

it's clear that the impact of the war is still being felt.

Overnight, Dubai authorities confirmed that their air defense systems had intercepted attacks in two major neighborhoods here in Dubai.

But while there has been this rhetoric from the Iranian foreign minister, Abbas RFC, of escalating the war in a certain sense, he has also made comments, according to Farce News Agency today, First News Agency, which is linked with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iran, that Iran denies targeting any civilian or residential infrastructure in these Gulf regions, in the Gulf region and in the uae.

And while that may be true, whether they're saying that they're not targeting them, the reality is that here luxury hotels, residential areas, even the airport have seen damage when it's come to intercepted, intercepted drones and attacks, debris falling.

We've seen videos circulate in recent months, weeks.

And so whether that statement would reassure these Gulf countries is unclear.

It comes off of the back of a rare statement made by a presidential adviser here in the UAE that it has a right to defense against what it called imposed terrorist aggression.

And interestingly, it said that the UAE would continue to prioritize logic and reason and continue to work for a way out for Iran and the region despite all of this.

Now, logic and reason, will that work against the Islamic Republic, a regime that time and time again in the past few decades has shown that it's focused on one thing, its own survival, the survival of its ideology and of the revolutionary values that it often refers to.

They are willing to take on a lot of damage.

And Mariam, a lot of the word asymmetry has been passed out and doled out a lot this week, especially when it comes to military strategies.

There is an asymmetry as well when it comes to the amount of pain that the region is willing to accept and Iran is willing to accept, given the fact that they are focused on survival at the expense of their own economy and even of the safety of their own people as It a thank you very much indeed for that.

Azadeh Macheri, our correspondent in Dubai.

Let's just bring you some breaking news lines now coming into us.

We're hearing in the last few minutes from Iran's foreign minister, Abbas Arachi on the Telegram channel that he runs.

And he said this, he's denied that Iran has targeted civilian or residential areas in the Middle East.

He says Tehran is ready to fight, form a committee with its neighbors to investigate the responsibility for such strikes.

He also goes on to say Gulf countries have called upon Iran to cease its attacks on territories.

And he also says in this interview that's been quoted that Iran has not targeted civilian or residential areas.

We'll try and bring you some more on that as and when we get it.

But look, you know, Iran is saying it hasn't targeted civilian residential areas, but

here in Doha and Qatar, there were evacuations in areas inside the city just not far from here where the university, one of the universities are based.

And there have also been missiles that have been targeted towards Doha as they have been towards other cities across the Gulf region.

With me now here in Doha is Barbara Usher, who is our Middle east correspondent.

And Barbara, just talking us through those evacuation orders.

Are people now being allowed back to those buildings?

You know, we don't have any official notice of that, whether the evacuation orders have been rescinded and people can go back.

But we do know of some people who have an office in one of the areas and they have been told to go back to work.

And there haven't really been any attacks overnight.

So it seems that the threat may have, may have decreased.

It'll be interesting to see how the Gulf states respond to Mr.

Abbas Iraqi's proposal for a committee to discuss these charges of civilian attacks.

They did respond to President Possesskian overture, I think it was a week ago now, maybe more than a week ago, when he apologized and, and

said that the Iran would not attack its neighbors if they didn't attack it.

In fact, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries were sitting down to draft a response and then the attacks continued.
