So today we're going to check out some discount grocery stores.

Definitely more options than the other stores.

The imperative

Just compare a couple prices of some main things and see which one we like best.

We've featured several different stores on Life in Japan before, but

never have we done a comparison quite like this.

Aldi's and Big A's is not actually the same company.

I don't know this grocery store, so I have to find everything.

I can already tell this they do not have a big selection because it's close and cheap.

Gyomo super is one of our favorite discount supermarkets.

But the ones we're featuring today are not our usual ones.

One of the first things I noticed is this does not look like the Aldi's of the States.

Prices of Sugar Llama Chan has a couple of things that she's going to be checking out at the different discount stores.

In Japan, you pay a small premium at convenience stores which are everywhere and do just about everything.

Discount stores, on the other hand, can't be found everywhere and don't offer everything.

One very interesting thing that I noticed in Japan, I don't know if they have this in America or not, is that you can buy individual size rice.

You can buy them in big packages, random little packages, all kinds of packages.

Like this nasty mush first day after surgery.

This right here, the mush, it's like rice water.

This is actually our very first time at a big A's here in Turkey pan.

Yeah, I like me some snow cheese flavored cheeses.

You like my cream cheese with the start with the fruit on top?

But as a cheese though, this I love soft cheeses.

The price is comparable to my grocery store.

I don't know what month they serve my kids in their school, but my kids love school lunchtime.

However find your cheapest egg would be this one.

We want to talk about something Japanese.

They don't have locks on the cart in Japan.

Now we're gonna check out a popular chain called okay Supa and they definitely have cheap prices for the most part.

But it's close to the station so it's always so busy and it's not by my house so I don't come to it.

Definitely more options than the other store.

I think we're gonna be picking something up.

The difference in size, selection, price and busyness was immediately visible.

Even though it's discount it feels like a true supermarket.

So I'm gonna buy ingredients for my quinoa salad.
