This update also coincides with Avowed's PlayStation 5 release, allowing more players to step into Obsidian's living lands.

Let's take a look at everything new in Avowed's anniversary update.

One of the most requested additions in the Avowed Anniversary update is New Game plus, which allows players to restart their journey with all their unique items and abilities minus godlike powers.

After completing the game, head back to the main menu to find a New Game plus option.

You'll know you're in New Game plus with your envoy when it has the Adventure 2 label.

If you have trouble finding it, you'll you may need to use a previous save file near the end of a run to beat the game and then access New Game Plus.

Although you do keep your end game gear, all of it will be reset to level one to go through an upgrade progression.

However, New Game plus also raises the attribute and ability points cap so you can become more powerful as you add to your existing build.

Enemies will be more challenging in New Game plus, with slightly slightly faster attack speed and modifiers that make them resistant to specific types of elemental damage or debuffs.

Another massive feature added to the game is Photo Mode, providing players tools to capture epic moments during their adventure.

Obsidian worked with designers from the Grounded team to develop Photo Mode in Avowed.

When the moment is right, find Photo Mode in the Pause menu.

You can play around with color gradients, a selection of effects, and

common camera settings like Field of View and Tilt.

This mode is perfect for showing off your character in the gorgeous scenery or displaying their best heroic side in the midst of battle.

Now you can equip a two handed quarterstaff for peak Wizardry.

Like other weapons, there's a base common quarterstaff, and

the unique versions can have more magical elements such as frost or poison effects.

It's a pretty cool weapon and extra special when playing in first person as your envoy slams down the staff to perform a Gandalf impression.

Though initially you could only play as humans or elves, this update brings three new playable races to choose Dwarves, Orlans, and

These options can offer a fun experience due to their varied sizes.

The first person camera shifts down a bit for Orlan and Dwarf races and shifts up for the Amaoa characters.

Aside from the differences in stat boost, you might also notice the proportion difference when equipping certain weapons or shields for the smaller species.

You don't have to load up a new save file to access these playable races.

With the magic mirror at your party camp, you can change appearance mid game, including your character's race.

Simply head to camp from Away stone and interact with the mirror near the campfire.

Under the body type submenu is a collection of the five racial options that can be further customized in appearance if you get overwhelmed by customization and want to quickly start your journey.

There are also new pre made envoy options available for all races.

These preset characters also come with cool nature design facial elements.

Additional godlike features and variants are also available in character customization.

These features can be hidden visually in game, but NPCs will still react to you being godlike anyway.

Custom Difficulty offers more options to make certain aspects easier or more challenging via sliders for multiple player, enemy and world elements.

This customization is only available after going through character creation and can be found in the settings.

Certain changes to difficulty modifiers will grant extra XP and you can check the total XP multiplier for all customizations in the bottom right window.

Adjustments to player modifiers like damage output, max health or cooldowns do not impact the XP multiplier, but

you'll get an EXP boost for increasing world and enemy sliders.

Bump up that fall damage merchant prices, enemy aggro thresholds, and more to level up faster.

Those are all the major additions in Avowed's anniversary update.
