And I have a very special guest with me today.

So Evie is currently with me in Tokyo for work.

And as any family who has been to Tokyo knows, it can be really daunting to bring a small child to such a big city.

So today we're actually going to go on a taxi tour.

This tax is going to drive us from destination to destination with as little friction as possible.

And I'm excited to show you how it works so that if you are coming to Tokyo with a big family, with small children, or maybe even elderly family members who can't move around as much and the train system might be a little bit too difficult for them, this is a great option for you, so come with us and check it out.

The first extremely useful part about getting a taxi is I can put the stroller in the back and I don't have to worry about unfolding it.

I don't need you now because I am traveling with a small child.

They have brought a child seat for Evie, which means you don't have to bring one on the plane.

Today we are going on a half day tour of Tokyo, departing from the iconic Tokyo station.

The car is a cozy alphard with so many fancy buttons.

And although Evie and I can speak Japanese, our driver can speak English too.

Tsukiji Market is the name of the fish and Shihudo Market.

Tsukiji Outer market is in one of Tokyo's most lively food districts, deeply tied to the city's culinary culture.

While the wholesale fish market has moved, the outer market remains a place to wander.

Narrow lanes lined with seafood vendors, specialty shops, and small eateries that reflect generations of food craftsmanship.

I'd never actually been to Tsukiji before today, so this stop was what I was most excited about during today's taxi tour.

Areas packed with shops and aspiring foodies from around the world.

And even if fish isn't usually your thing, there's genuinely something for everyone here.

For a kid friendly snack, I was told to try the sweet rolled egg omelette, and

Tsukiji Outer market can be pretty tough to navigate with a small child.

It gets really crowded and it's hard to find somewhere to sit down, which is why we took a sushi class instead.

This allowed us to engage with the seafood market in an interactive way.

And with a new skill learned, take a piece of it home with us to too.

And what was particularly impressive to me was how they were able to modify the lesson for a small child, making it an accessible activity for the whole family.

And surprisingly, Evie participated more than I expected.

It was great that they had ways to accommodate a small child who maybe isn't asleep with their hands yet.

And she made some egg sushi, which she liked a lot.

And what better place to try sushi than Tsukiji?

And now we're heading off to Skytree in Asakusa, which is an area that I tend to skip a lot of the times I come to Tokyo Just because it's far from the rest of the city center.

I don't think I've been in about 10 years, so I'm really looking forward to seeing it now.

One of the really convenient parts of renting a personal taxi for the day as well is that you get to use all the parking lots that are directly connected to the places that you want to see, which means we're parking exactly at Skytree, and

then we just gotta head up, and when we're done, we just gotta come back down.

So Tokyo Skytree is the tallest building in Japan, and

this is a great place to come and see all of Tokyo in all of its glory.

It's such a huge city, and it spreads out far and wide on the ground.

When you're traveling place to place, you kind of don't understand just how dense and how busy and hectic and far spread the city is.

So getting up into the sky and just seeing a whole panoramic view is a great way to understand.

Skytree is a sight to behold in of itself, but

it also has the highest souvenir shop in Japan, selling postcards that you can mail directly from the observatory to anyone who may be on your mind.

For us, it was daddy who is back home waiting for us.

Asakusa is a great place to come to see the more spiritual and traditional side of Japan.

It's a great place to dress up in a kimono and a yukata.

It's a great place to celebrate New Year's.

It can be pretty crowded around traditional holidays.

There's lots of novelty shops, but there's also a lot of really cool traditional souvenir shops as well.

It's probably been about 10 years since I've been to Asakusa and it's changed a lot.

It looks like there's a lot of new trending sweet shops and there's matcha, there's strawberries.

There's traditional stuff of course as well, Lots of souvenirs.

But I'm looking forward to just doing a quick stroll through here and seeing what looks interesting for me and Evie.

Asakusa is busy and a little chaotic, especially around the temple, but

it still holds on to a strong sense of tradition.

Between the crowds, historic buildings and everyday rituals, it feels like a place where old Tokyo continues to exist in plain sight.

So usually when I travel with my daughter, we try not to pick more than one activity a day just because it's so daunting to get to and from places.

And thanks to the taxi driver and to this service, we actually managed to do a lot today.

If you are someone who's traveling to Tokyo for a very limited amount of time and you want to squeeze as much travel into that limited amount of time as possible, I recommend having a private car and just hiring for a couple hours to have them take you to all of the sightseeing spots.

I also recommend it for families or anyone who's mobility impaired and has trouble getting around up and down stair or using public transportation.
