No doubt Japan is an amazing place to visit and full of unforgettable experiences.

But with all the political unrest in the world and new foreign policies in place in Japan, is Japan still a good place for foreigners to live or not?

We're taking a fresh look at that from the ground perspective.

Where we've lived in Japan with our family for nearly 12 years.

After 11 years in the Japanese school system, our oldest twin daughters are going to an international high school in Tokyo.

But our youngest two are still in the Japanese system.

We've had all our kids in the Japanese school system so they could learn the language and culture naturally.

This is a life between two worlds, full of challenge and reward.

Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick.

Moving to Japan is like being thrown into a sports game where you don't really know the rules, you struggle to communicate, and

even the smallest challenge is a giant hurdle.

But if you keep with it, you begin to pick up the game.

And soon you're playing it with the best of them, with the bruises and soreness to prove it.

Soon you're taking shots on goal and making a real difference in the game.

Still, life here has a way to throw you a curveball.

And all the hard work you've done can seemingly be lost in a moment.

But if you have a strong system of support, you can face anything that comes your way.

Even with all the support in the world, you still face losses in a game that is heavily weighted towards one team.

After all, what does life in Japan have to do with Becca's field hockey game?

But perhaps it does as well as anything to capture the thrill and challenge of making Japan your permanent home.

Because sooner or later, you're bound to score.

Emma looks like she is just like living life when she's like this, doesn't she?

Right when I was gonna hit the new queue, she's like, ah.

With all of the changes happening in Japan and around the world, it seems like the game itself is constantly changing.

The question is, is the game still worth playing or not?

Is Japan still a good place for foreigners to make their permanent home?

The answer, I think, is not as simple as a yes.

They're getting better before the finals next week.
