German police searched Deutsche bank offices in Frankfurt and Berlin on Wednesday.

That's according to local prosecutors, who said it was part of an investigation into money laundering.

They added the police are looking at as yet unidentified individuals and bank employees.

Sources told Reuters the case involved transactions between 2013 and 2018, but

authorities declined to comment on the timeframe.

Money laundering lapses have cropped up at Germany's largest lender over the years.

It's led to scrutiny from regulators, fines and police raids.

And Wednesday's searches come a day before the bank is due to report its latest results, which, if forecasts are correct, could show its biggest net profit in just under 20 years.

Deutsche confirmed the searches and its full cooperation, but declined further comment.

The bank's shares were around 3%, down in mid afternoon trade.
