This was the thing I would talk about for four years.

And this is how we became lightning and thunder.

Yes, We should call ourselves Lightning and Thunder.

That is not very professional of me, but I've been wanting to do it for, like, a whole.

The first thing that I got to see was the documentary song Sung Blue.

And he sent me this documentary, said, dude, there's a story here, and check it out.

And I watched the documentary, and I said, yes, like, before the script was written.

And I just loved this underdog story, this love story of real people, folk heroes in Milwaukee in the mid-90s who went on this incredible ride as a duo.

Just what happened to them in their life, I couldn't believe.

And I found myself when people say, what are you doing next?

But I got this because the story was so inspiring to me and so incredible in some ways, but

And I think the character somehow combined everything for me that I have been sort of working on for 30 years.

So for me, the first time I read the script and then sort of hoped that Craig and Hugh would consider me for the part of Claire, because it was something that same as Hugh.

Like, all of these things I get to do in this role is just something you long to do as an actor, and

you get to bring all of the different aspects of not only the things that you've learned or that you've crafted over the years, but

also, like, really lean into something that if you don't really commit to it, it's not gonna work.

Whether that be the love story, whether that be the accent in this film, the hair, the music.

And then they asked me to come on board, and I was really, really excited.

The documentary was the thing for me that kind of took me over the edge.

Because reading the script, it was such a great script, but

there was a part of me that was like, this can't be true.

And then when I saw that documentary, I was like, well, you can only make this movie if it's a true story.

And it felt like such a privilege to be able to do it.

Lightning is Nothing without you for cold and what.

There's the music and there's the need and the desire to get back on stage, because that's what gives Claire life.

But there's the love that she has for her husband that is truly a real love story.

And their belief in each other sort of gets them through life.

And for me, it was how much she loved him.

Like, I feel like every time she would look at him, she looked right into his soul and saw it, and

So that was really kind of, I think, the biggest touchstone for me, or the two biggest touchstones.

The things for me with Mike were his determination that no matter what the evidence was, he was not giving up on this dream and his love of performing.

But speaking to what Kate just said, I think Mike begins this journey when he meets Kate.

He's just so obsessed with him being able to entertain.

And it's not Madison Square Garden, it's not a Vegas residency, it's wherever he can be.

But it's very singular and related to himself.

And he first meets Kate's character and thinks, oh, maybe this is the thing I need.

And not long into becomes a true love story where it's like, it's about us.

That's the journey of love in this story.

They're the things I didn't want to lose.

And it's so refreshing, too, because we see so many love stories that are about finding your own personal identity.

And this one, to me, is about how their identity is with each other.

It feels lost without the other one, which I think a lot of therapists might say is unhealthy, but

really beautiful, kind of refreshing and.

Both of us love performing, so you don't have to twist our arm to do it.

let's speak for me that once I found what that was, what is that for Mike?

There's the same love and desire for it, but it's different.

Once I found that, then we could click into it.

And I think a lot of it had to do with the music, Neil Diamond's music.

And also, you know, what was fun for me to tackle is the who she is.

You know, her relationship to performing changes.

So what are those shifts and how to overcome certain things?

But inevitably, Claire just has to be on stage.

When we were singing with her last night and just.

And that was important for me when I was doing it was just that as an actor sounds kind of silly, but

She wants to, like, burst out of her skin when she's on stage.
