Elon Musk just unveiled the updated Optimus robot.

He shared detailed insights and talked at length about the future of Tesla and the world around it.

But to achieve that, he needs a lot of robots.

According to the boy wonder, components and equipment needed to manufacture Optimus have already long been developed within the Tesla ecosystem.

This foundational work made it possible for the company to create the world's first car.

All of these surprise, surprise, just happen to be the essential building blocks of a fully racist realized humanoid robot.

And that is the first component of the holy trinity of robotics for creating a universal humanoid Mass Production Musk doesn't need to negotiate with other manufacturers.

He already has the factories and production lines, and

he plans to build as many new ones as necessary, given his experience and expertise.

Tesla produces millions of vehicles every year.

It has the AI engineering team developing cutting edge full self driving systems, and

most importantly, it has the industrial automation processes required to eventually expand into robot production.

Until now, we've primarily seen Optimus version 2.5.

It's possible that the robot jogging through the office is already next gen, but

potentially not the final version of the third generation just yet.

Currently, the robot freely navigates Tesla headquarters, it can escort guests to desired locations and independently head back to its charging station when necessary.

And of course it's constantly undergoing training and basically serves as a testing ground for all sorts of improvements.

Version 4 is already scheduled for 2027 and the 5.0 is set for 2028.

The company is clearly committed to continually improving and updating the robot, much like smartphone makers Optimus 4 that hopefully starts production in 27 and then Optimus 5 in 28.

So it's kind of like an annual release cycle with significant improvements.

Naturally, the production of these androids will also be scaled up until it reaches a volume of a million robots a year.

The moment that happens, everything will change.

At this volume, the robot's cost will drop to at least $20,000, making it a mass consumer product and a profitable investment for manufacturing and warehousing companies.

And if everything goes according to plan, future volumes could further increase to tens of millions of robots annually.

the fact is Musk has already achieved the fastest production growth rates for some of the most complex and Largest products in history.

So who wants to bet he will or won't be able to do it with humanoids?

And yet, Musk is not a dreamer detached from reality.

He's a calculated feller and clearly understands that robots and AI can scale the economy 10 or even a hundred times over.

But first, Tesla must prove that this technology is safe, transparent and built to serve humanity, not to replace it.

Let's play the devil's advocate for a second.

Now, imagine a smart humanoid machine capable of seeing, understanding and acting present in your home, workplace or any other institution.

That's an incredibly tempting target for hackers and criminals of all kinds.

Consequences of such a breach are hard to imagine.

That's why Elon Musk and the Tesla team are building a multilayered security ecosystem, including data encryption, monitoring, AI driven firewalls, and

automatic lockdown mechanisms that activate should anomalous behavior indeed be detected.

On top of that, the company has developed protocols for remote human control.

These will allow human operators to intervene at any moment and take command of the robot, which does raise a question in and of its own.

Beyond hacking though, there's another conundrum to contemplate.

Since the robot is constantly learning and adjusting its behavior based on acquired data, what guarantee is there that it won't learn something, say, undesirable?

In reality, the more complex, smart and capable the robot gets, the more vulnerable it becomes.

That's why the company is focusing on issues of technological ethics and cybersecurity simultaneously with Optimus's development.

Remember when Elon Musk was among a group of developers and researchers who signed a letter on the dangers of uncontrolled development of artificial intelligence?

Well, the entrepreneur is therefore ensuring that the robot is protective to the gills against all threats before it reaches consumers homes, do we believe?

And while universal abundance is still in the future, at present Tesla is focused on more grounded and practical things.

The company is trying to speed up and perfect the robot's training for simple domestic chores.

Albeit it being the most challenging aspect, it's the most relatable and understandable for the vast majority.
