Consumer group, Choice, bought five fakes from online Chinese retailer Shein and a discount store in Melbourne.

Three had loose stitching, exposed stuffing or removable eyes.

There were small detachable parts that came off easily that could pose a choking hazard to small children

In the US and UK, the fakes have also sparked safety warnings

with concerns the counterfeits could contain harmful chemicals, including lead.
