The imperative

Jennifer from Tarle Speech, let's learn some homophones.

Homophones are words that are pronounced exactly the same way.

They just have different spellings and different meanings.

And we typically will say tick tock, tick tock.

Talk is to speak or communicate with words.

And then we have talk, which is like the app TikTok, which we do spell it differently than talk when we're spelling tick tock like the clock sound to say these words correctly.

Let's start with a T. Let the air puff out.

You're going to touch the tip of the tongue to the spot where the skin and the teeth meet on the roof of the mouth.

Then move to that open ah, wide open, oval shape.

Tip of the tongue is low, back of the tongue is pulled high up.

And then you're going to keep the mouth open wide and we are going to let the air puff out for that K.

Yes, there are variations for the word talk, but

since most of my audience is learning English as a new language, I am here for helping you to be as clear as possible.

And saying these words the same way will do just that.
