I think how lucky Yuna is to have two very different cultures.

She's so young now and doesn't know how much she's about to experience.

But today, my mom is visiting and meeting my daughter and my husband for the very first time.

We had a nice meal at Haneda Airport, took a bathroom break, rated my bathroom experience, and went to check out the new section of the airport, which was pretty dang cool.

Haneda opened up a new area here, so it's super cool.

There's lots of shops and restaurants, and we just discovered it.

My quote-unquote village instead of my family has been other moms living in the Tokyo area.

I love having such a close-knit network living here.

It's actually not that busy here, I thought it was going to be busier.  It's a blanket.

Whenever I take her to the park, she's like, whoa.

Motherhood and bonsai trees both teach the importance of patience and nurturing.

Just as bonsai trees require careful pruning, shaping, and time to flourish, so do children.

Both remind us that growth is a gradual process, requiring attention, love, and dedication to achieve beautiful results.

The last time I came here, I was with Yuji, we were on a date.

It was so crowded because it was a weekend, and I remember it so clearly.

But it's just like revisiting these places when I was like in my 20s.

I don't know.  I think we're- Hi, duckies!

And I wonder how she'll be able to shape her identity and create her path.

Because I feel as a mom, you sort of lose that identity.

But seeing through the eyes of a child, again, that Japanese concept of Shoshin, beginner's mind, you can see it as a blank canvas to play, shift, change, and grow.

And I think when it comes to the loss of identity in this postpartum phase, that's the best way to frame it.

Today, we're looking for venues for Yuna's first birthday party.

It's hard to believe she's turning one year already, and although this past year has been quite hard as a new mom, I'm relearning that an ebb in life is always followed by a flow.

Things are getting easier, but then they will get hard again.

But with each ebb and flow comes strength as a mother.

So we're at the place that we're gonna have Yuna's birthday party, and it's super nice because you can rent out the entire place.
