Hello from Busan, Korea. Country number eight on our worldwide trip. We're here at the Gamcheon

Basic passive voice

Culture Village. It's a must-do in Busan. This is like a little town that was built as a port city in the early 20s and then used as housing after the Korean War and then sort of part of this like early 2000s revival tourism project where they basically just painted everything multiple different colors. We're gonna go hit a cafe, walk around the village, and then we'll make a plan for the day. Let's go.

I don't even know what to say. You know how to pick them because this place is insane.

I feel like I'm gonna have like repressed childhood memories that are about to like spawn out of this cafe. And would you like to know that on top of all of this, they have ducks downstairs that you can feed and you can hear them.

I got this grapefruit juice here. It has like little jellies in it. I'll give it like a seven out of ten. I got a banana latte. These are kind of famous in Korea. Delicious. By the way guys, we're filming a cafe hopping video that will be out next week and I think we're gonna include this one so just act brand new whenever you see it. Thanks so much. Okay guys, so Ray and I have just entered the Jagalchi fish market. The game plan is to buy some fish here and then you can cook it upstairs I think. This is quite the market. Yeah. Like it's pretty insane. We're here around three o'clock so it's not crowded. I think it opens at 5am and this is where like all of the restaurants get their seafood. It's the largest fish market in

South Korea. I'd love to try it. Let's go.

Okay guys, we've chosen our sacrifices. It was very sad for the fish. They're preparing them for us right now. We're sitting upstairs and I'm excited to eat. I'm starving so it doesn't get any fresher than this that's for sure. It's like if I had to kill an animal myself I wouldn't eat meat. I would just would never do it. I'd wrestle a hog down with my bare hands if it meant eating some pork belly. Two hours ago he was in the ocean. Two minutes ago he was swimming in a pool and in two minutes he'll be swimming in our intestines. He's got a little chew to him for sure. You can taste that he fought back. He's got the rigor mortis. Good like clean taste to the fish though. We also got grilled eel which is on deck right now and it looks pretty good. Eel is actually something that Bhutan is known for. So delicious. So there was in fact the third fish guys and he just hit the deck. He's steaming. He looks great. There's something really special about fresh fish.

I remember when I was a kid my like stepdad used to take us fishing. When we would eat the fish when we got home I was like this isn't the same fish I've been eating and this is kind of the same experience you get here. The fish here really hits on a different level. It's a solid grilled fish.

It's great. I don't know if we're supposed to be up here but we took the elevator from the market to the seventh floor and then did not follow the signs for the observatory. We just came out right where the elevator came out and have this view to ourselves. This is the village where we just were at and down here these are where all the boats come in with the fish that we just ate and then this is just a pretty gorgeous view of Busan. It is truly so gorgeous here like I get the hype.

So this is the second cultural village of Busan. I'll drop the name right here. I forget what it's called up top but they say it looks like Santorini. So I guess I can go ahead and check that off my bucket list. It really is gorgeous. I mean it overlooks the water and it's really white. I guess they forgot to paint this one but honestly kind of makes for a different vibe. Just like the other cultural villages there's tons of cafes here so I think we're going to pop in one. Crave in a little baked good as you might have guessed and then we're just going to vibe out enjoy the views.

All right guys we just popped into this place called Lisboa cafe. I was looking for a little sweet treat all along the coastline here. I stopped to get this blueberry croffle. We also got a couple glasses of wine. This was expensive. This was 30, 33 dollars for all of this stuff.

Delicious. Eight and a half out of ten. One thing that surprised me about Busan, I expected it to be a little city. It's a big city. This place is literally massive. Tons of different neighborhoods, all different vibes. There are some neighborhoods that look really old. There are some neighborhoods filled with young people and are more modern. No, it's super cute. I feel like it's like a vacation spot for a lot of people but there are people who live here. Like I thought it would be just cute Miami vibes. I looked up the population here it's over three million. That's insane. So that would make it like the second biggest city in the U.S. Whenever we were doing research for this trip like time and time again on like so many different platforms we saw people saying how mean and like unwelcoming Koreans were. We saw it so many times that I feel like I was like oh god what if it's true. I know I was psyched up about it. I thought like people would be mean to me. Yeah. It's been the opposite. People have been so nice. I can't even believe it. Like we went to this Korean barbecue spot last night and they were so welcoming, happy to have us and that's just kind of been my experience everywhere here. Unless you're watching us, get offline you know. Go touch grass. Yeah. Meet some people. They're better than you would expect. Coffee. This is from a place called Fwick. Nick has been going every single morning. We're in like an office-y like residential non-touristy neighborhood nearly by the baseball stadium. It's like a pretty cool area because it's super local. The reason we stayed out here is because this apartment was only $24 a night which is crazy for how big it is. It has a kitchen, it has a bathroom, it has like an entryway with a big closet where we could put all our clothes, queen-size bed, big windows, a TV. What more could you really ask for? Okay guys we're on a mission for lunch. The place we're going to is like an 11-minute walk from our apartment. We decided to stay local today and then later we're gonna go to Seomyeon which is like the city center. Maybe have some drinks, drink some soju. I don't think we've had soju since we've been in Korea yet. We're having cold noodles today which I think is one of the things you're supposed to get in Busan. Otherwise known as Poosan. Did you know that? If you're to be poosed off, then poosed on. I'll tell you that. I'll tell you that right now. Um...

So we're at this place that's famous for milmyeon which is a Busan specialty. Korean cold noodles typically in a meat broth with an egg on top. It's a spicy sauce served cold. Super popular to eat on hot days. This place is popping off. It's like 1 30 on a Tuesday. There was a line down the block.

We ordered two noodles and it also came with this teapot full of the best broth I've ever tasted in my life. Um... We're waiting for our noodles to come and we'll check back in later.

The noodles are super chewy and delicious. I love that it's cold. It tastes super vegetable. It's not too spicy. And then with this broth to rinse it down. I feel like it's the perfect lunch honestly.

It's like light, refreshing, a little sweet and tangy but pretty good. I'd say it's like a solid seven and a half out of ten for me.

Hello. Just finished lunch. It was absolutely delicious but I just have to say it is baffling to me how America and Americans get the rep for having like extreme portions.

I have never seen extreme portions like I have in Asia. Like I cannot eat that many noodles.

It's truly crazy. But that dish was like one of my fave lunch specialties I've had in a long time.

It was like upside down world. Like the noodles were cold but then what you drank was hot and the whole combination was just delicious. So very excited that we tried it.

Ray and I just got to Samyang which is like the most happening part of town. There's tons of shops, bars, cafes, restaurants. We're gonna look around maybe get some skincare.

Maybe let Ray buy an item or two. Come along. Come along.

Olive Young is like the mecca for Korean skincare which I know nothing about.

I would like to learn though. Some of the Olive Young stores have like this machine where you can analyze your skin. Ray got her skin analyzed and it said she looked 25. Yeah it said my skin age was 25 but it said I needed serious work on the pores. Well I think you look great for 36 honestly. Thank you. For people who are new here, Ray's only 29. So pretty good if your skin's looking 25 I guess. One thing that I think is so funny is that people order like to-go products like just to come pick up. Like it's that serious here. Give us a haul. Got the goods. I got a new bronzer that came with a brush. This was 7,000 won which is like seven bucks or something less than. And then I got these pore clearing strips which read it so I should try. It was like 20 bucks total that we spent I think. Pretty good. I'm just gonna have to skip the skincare and just go hard until I need surgery you know. That's basically my plan. All right we're trying on sunglasses. No you don't need those. These are super cute. You might have to get these.

All right guys now we're looking for food. There's all these like tight narrow streets right off the main shopping streets that have tons of food and bars. So we're gonna pop in somewhere. They all look really cute so I don't think we can lose. Ray's getting hungry and I'm getting a little scared so definitely need to I need to solve this problem quickly.

So after strolling around for a bit we ended up in a Korean barbecue spot and we're gonna have our first sip of soju of the trip so far. I really just don't see the hype. It's easy to drink. It's like utterly offensive. It tastes like water with like a whisper of marshmallow. Don't get you f***ed up. You could drink this like water and I will drink it like water.

The like stabbing method is like how I learned to drink it like this. Shout out to Doobie Doobop honestly. She taught us everything we know about Korea. Honestly do you guys watch other travel vlogs? The whole reason we even started vlogging was because we loved watching travel vlogs. Ray didn't want to do it initially. We had already planned to do the trip regardless of YouTube. I was like hey since we're doing the trip we might as well film it. I'm like hell no. I feel like one of the main motivating reasons why we started doing YouTube is like we watched so many vlogs and felt like after watching people go to a specific location we would still feel like we didn't know what the city looked like. When we bring you with us I like hopefully want you guys to feel like you guys saw the city and you know what the vibe is. That's what we're trying to bring to the table. Guys you want to know something crazy? That was only $35 and it was plenty of meat and plenty of food and plenty of beer and soju. Give me and Ray a little buzz and very full. Buzz? I'm wasted.

Hello. Hello. We're at the next place. It's called Hit The Mac. It's a little wine bar.

I got a glass of wine and Ray got a beer. A little his and hers situation. This area is called and it's definitely like the hip area. I'm looking dead on at a Le Labo perfumery.

Wine's like a seven and a half out of ten. Pretty good. I like it. It's fine. All right let me try this beer. Beer's a nine. You can go more wrong with wine than beer. That's why I was so pleased when Nick started loving beer. I don't think you'd ever ordered in your adulthood, in your entire life, a glass of beer until we got to Bangkok. I was a wine tequila sake guy.

If I had to keep one forever it might be beer. It's wine for me still. Yeah I mean it's likely wine for me too but beer is like a very very close second. Comment below guys if you had to keep one alcohol choice. Mary Kill. Mary Kill, wine, beer, and your spirit of choice. Wine, beer, liquor.

For our first course guys we got some tuna sashimi. Looks pretty solid. Yeah they folded it up into a rose. Looks delicious. It's in a like a sesame dressing. It's so tender it's great.

All right guys we got gyoza. If you know you know the only thing Nick loves more than Katy Perry is gyoza. Gyoza is like a five out of ten. It's not that good. It's really under seasoned.

They passed us once before. She tried to get me to come to the maid cafe. She wants me. I told you.

What's up guys? It's the next day. We're at a Korean baseball game. I was convinced by my best friend Addie who loves baseball to come out here. I don't really like baseball but I'm kind of in it for the cultural experience you know. Ray's holding some corn dogs which we're about to dig into.

Got some beers. We got some fried chicken. It's gonna be a great time. We're burning up. I'll tell you that though. The sun is beaming and oppressive so you know we'll survive but it should just barely. Yeah exactly. Look at this view. I better turn the camera around. It's actually kind of insane. I'll give you a little Korean corn dog taste test here.

It's good. The mustard's a little sweet and the breading is real crispy. It's got like panko on the outside. It's like way more bread than dog. Show them. Get in the corner. Yeah totally. I'll give it like a 7 out of 10. Damn. Okay cool. I'm gonna put this camera down and eat mine. Okay I'm trying my dog. Probably a 10 out of 10. 10 out of 10?

People here really grow up. Like you can you can bring in outside food right? Yeah so it's kind of like if you could bring snacks to the movies but no one cared. You bring a little extra you know. There was a girl eating nigiri. They like had like trays of sushi. It was amazing and then also they have hundreds of synchronized chants and it's pretty epic to watch them all.
