I love Google Analytics for audience creation because there are so many great options to filter and define your audience, especially based upon sources and behaviors, which you really can't do outside of Google Analytics.

First, we just need to navigate over to the admin section.

And then right here in the middle, you need to click into audience definitions and then audiences.

So now as we create a new audience, you'll see we have a ton of different options.

I like to choose the create new option, which just allows us to start completely from scratch.

And so the first audience that I would normally create is a recent transaction audience.

And I would create that for exclusion purposes to ensure that we aren't remarketing people that have already purchased this product.

Or at the very least, we wanna make sure that we're not remarketing people that have purchased this product recently.

Because you know how it is when you've recently purchased something and you just keep seeing an ad for it, it's kind of annoying.

So we would just add a transactions equal to or greater than one.

And then we would click apply and we would save this audience as transactions.

And depending on how frequently somebody might repurchase this, you could change the membership duration.

For the purposes of this, I'll keep it at 30 days.

And then you will choose your audience destinations.

I don't wanna add it to the analytics report, but I will send it over to Google Ads.

And then we're just going to click publish.

And so now that audience is going to be available within the Google Ads audience manager for use.

Typically in advance of creating audiences,

I would run some custom reports just to get a sense of which behaviors indicate high intent users.

And then I would use those learnings to define some of the audiences.

So an audience that I might create would be something like the amount of time that they spent on site.

So typically I would have already had this informed by a custom report, but just for the purposes of this example,

So we would just plug that in there and then we could save this and we could create a new audience based upon that.

Another thing that we might take a look at would be specific conditions.

And then we could take a look at specific conditions.

If we wanted, for instance, to target a specific ad content, a specific ad that they had seen, we could create remarketing lists off of that.

Or we could do things like specific pages they visited.

We could choose like a landing page, for instance.

And then let's say we wanted to target a specific guide.

There's so many different ways that you can use this.

If you wanted to target specific devices, you can do that.

There's so many different ways that you can define audiences within Google Analytics that they are truly more powerful than what you can create in almost any other platform, including Google Ads, but also including other platforms where you can run remarketing as well.

There are a ton of different options and start to play around and just define out some different audiences and see how they do.
