These are my hidden gem food spots at Haneda airport So today i'm at tokyo's haneda airport and I wanted to show you some of my favorite food spots in this area I know that many of you may think that there's not a lot of good food spots at an airport But in fact, there's a lot of hidden gems here And so i'm gonna be showing you some of my favorite today and after sharing some of these food spots Let me know what you guys thought in the comments.

All right, let's get our food on Put your tray tables down because tokyo's haneda airport recently opened a brand new shopping mall haneda airport garden And it's got that mile high joe for your mouths directly connected to terminal 3's second floor international arrival area This spot has it all with a total of 80 unique restaurants and souvenir shops a hotel and even an onsen hot spring Perfect before your flight when you arrive or just like me for a day visit runways clear So let's take off on this flavored journey Number one unagi yondaime kikukawa at this spot.

Let me show you what I mean This food spot is a fairly new unagi eel specialty shop from nagoya, which is quickly gaining in popularity Run by an eel wholesaler with 90 years of history It offers the highest quality unagi imaginable and unlike many shops who serve their eels sliced in pieces This spot is famously known for their ipon unagi a full-length juicy eel served atop a bed of rice 300 grams of charcoal grilled perfection cooked right in front of me It looks so good It's called iponju because it's one whole piece that they serve and we're just gonna cut just like this Grab some of that rice and just drop it into the bowl like so Ready for this bite Wow, you have the sweetness from your signature tare freshly dipped then after that you have just the tender Unagi and all the juices flowing from that all on top of this luscious rice Hmm It is prepared all over like the bincho charcoal that locks in all of that umami and generally in the kansai area Eels are prepared with a crispy texture while in the kanto area It's more savory and airy.

This shop is that sweet balance of both with a crispy outer texture and airier inside That's simply undeniable and actually have a bowl of tare right here So we're just gonna throw that on because you know, we're a little bit extra today.

Maybe not Um The sweetness definitely comes through even more and then they have two types of a sansho Kona sansho is made from the dried skin of ripe sansho fruit and mi sansho is made from unripened sansho berries This one has a quite a stronger smell more of kind of like a flowery taste to it with every single bite.

It is a joy Wow, look we're making candy right here.

That's so cool Number two edomai ramen, so this spot is quite interesting because it's not just one restaurant But it's more of like a food court.

Let me show you inside So the next spot i'm taking you to is inside of the food court It's got five restaurants celebrating japanese finest ingredients from tokyo and they aren't your regular chain spots But rather all haneda airport garden originals and it's perfect If you're with a group who want to try different japanese foods, but still want to sit all together There's a seafood bar sushi and stuff here You have the lava grilled steak edo cafe and deli and you got some soba right here But today i'm taking you to edomai ramen So what's a little bit different about this place is that you pay at the display right here.

Let me make the order now Today i'm throwing down on the shoyu ramen made with kikogo shoyu crafted by a 100 year old tokyo brewery It has a half cooked egg thin sliced pork green onions bamboo shoots naruto and nori seaweed Oh, it smells so good.

And what I love about coming here is that it's such a reasonable price 880 yen can't do that Hmm Nothing beats a good broth i've been to restaurants where the shoyu ramen is just so so strong It's overpowering this one is actually kind of like a little bit more in the middle so much flavor and just one Little spoon the noodles are still on the harder side.

This one has the perfect texture It still has a little bit of like bite.

That's a fairly good size piece of chashu Hmm Oh, that's tender and it's picked up a lot of the flavor from the shoyu and look at this egg You can see the gooey part of the egg right there.

I love that part Oh, that's a really good egg.

This has been marinated as well The quality in japan is so high with a lot of the food coming to a simple airport like this, dude There are definitely some hidden gems number three sario suisei So at this spot you can get all the matcha love you'd ever want Let me show you this kyoto born japanese sweets cafe offers a variety of dishes using the highest rank uji matcha Guaranteeing a direct flight to matcha flavor town Okay We got the gold leaf hitter right here Just need to take a little break from the food a little bit of dessert before we continue on Let me just take a little lick of this Wow This is a strong matcha flavor the shop exclusively uses a luxurious thick matcha called koicha Which has a rounded bitterness and deep umami to help create their unforgettable sweets and then this have a little taste of this That cinnamon just pairs really well with a strong matcha putting a smile on my face to be honest I really can't taste the gold leaf.

I feel like my money isn't melting away with this one And this little journey to sweets town wouldn't be complete if I didn't have some dango and here is the matcha On look at how beautiful that looks they even have some gold flex on top Am I flexing today with all the gold?

So let me kind of show you around So there are a whole bunch of souvenir shops on the second floor divided into different sections And the haneda sando area is a go-to spot as it has traditional items with a less touristy vibe Look at this shop has a bunch of japanese goods some handkerchief tea pots But i am on senbei crackers Oh, these are good they're super light and crispy This place has any goods and they have some sake here Look over there Look, they even have kanzuri here.

This is actually a part of the hot sauce is the kanzuri red chili paste I actually have Like I always carry some of the hot sauce.

So this spot is one of my long-time fried favorites.

Let me show you Yabaton is originally from nagoya with over 70 years of history renowned for its one-of-a-kind miso katsu I previously showcased it in my nagoya travel guide video But since it's maiko's my wife's favorite food in the world.

I had to include it again Oh, and they also have a variety of takeout bento boxes.

Perfect If you want to take it on the flight with you All right, so I just got my meal it's a waraji tonkatsu It is a double loin the set meal comes with rice miso soup potato salad hijiki a renkon lotus dish and pickles And for their dipping sauce, I chose the worcestershire and miso, but you can also choose rock salt and green perilla dressing It smells so good.

Look at this piece right here crispy loveliness You can see so i'm gonna first just dip it in the miso sauce and I like it because it's on the side So it's still crispy when you take the bite That is fabulous so Crispy on the outside and just tender and juicy in the middle But I like about the miso sauce because it's not super super sweet, but it does have subtle sweetness The shop's miso is packed with umami crafted with the mame miso that's been aged for one year An interesting story about why they call this waraji is because this place makes their tonkatsu super super flat It kind of looks like an old school japanese sandal, which is called waraji That's why they call it that and this one i'm gonna throw in their homemade worcestershire sauce Worcestershire sauce worcestershire sauce you guys let me know always get it wrong.

Ah This worcestershire sauce is also fire Has like its own unique sweetness a little bit tangy as well And if you want to get a little bit crazy i'm gonna double dip both of them in both sauces You're probably not even supposed to do this, but we're gonna do it.

Anyway, just to get both flavors in our mouth And number five hanayama udon so this spot behind me has some udon noodles that you've probably never seen before Let me take you inside and show you This shop always has a line at the front.

So be ready, especially if you've got a flight to catch since 1894 the shop has been dishing up their famous extra wide udon known as oni himokawa udon It's not merely a whimsical concept, but truly one of the best udons i've ever had Look at this amazing Beautifulness and a little cute tanuki bowl You got some boogie buda pork soft boiled egg and green onions all served on top of some cold thick Noodles, this is the noodle.

Here we go I Just have kind of like a really bouncy texture There's just a lot of moisture trapped into this noodle and it all explodes when you bite into it Now that we've had several bites All you can do is they have some dashi right here and we can add it to change the flavor profile So put it all in there Oh, yeah Mmm They make a really good dashi here a little bit sweet a little bit savory Even the meat is getting all of that dashi that just adds so much more umami to change up the flavor profile Go ahead and sprinkle some black chili peppers to your heart's desire And if you want a little kick in the pants use the wasabi, which I love to eat it with now one thing about japanese culture is that you're able to slurp noodles, but I wonder if there's like a Limit on how thick the noodles can be So That's a lot of noodles to be sucking down your throat So if any of you are just a little bit tired of eating Then I wanted to show you a place where you can take a little break Izumi tenku no you they even have an onsen spa here on the 12th floor with its 24 hour operation It's a perfect spot to spend time before an early morning or after a late night flight Just note though that the bathing area is closed for cleaning from 10 a.m.

To 1 p.m And you'll be straight How just look at this onsen you have a cold bath here hot bath here all over looking at the river just right here And just look at this outdoor section right here you have the onsen you can see the ocean you can see the airplanes and then Just behind me.
