This is Zach and Ella talking rejection, take one.

Present continuous

We're gonna talk about some times that we have gotten rejected romantically.

Do you have any really good, juicy stories?

The key to being a baller, if that's a thing, is not being fazed by rejection.

I actually really admire people who I see being rejected and being like, whatever, I know my value.

But I'm gonna bring you all the way back to high school, senior year of high school.

Give me a male's name, he'll come into play later.

So, it was prom and little Zach did not have a prom date.

I wish you could animate this and have me walking up.

She was really cool, but she wasn't in the cool girl group.

So, Ellen was not in a squad and as such, as everyone else was getting prom dates, you know, the popular boys or the popular girls,

And this is two weeks into people asking.

If you like somebody, don't just like pine after them and from afar, like you actually have to fucking talk to them.

That mistake took me so long in life to figure out of like, oh, people are not just like this object of desire that you can like imagine what they're like.

Anyway, this was before promposals were a big thing.

So I was just like, I'm gonna do something cute.

So I wrote out on these note cards, like flashcards, because I think we were maybe in a study class together.

And so I wrote out a message like, hey, I think you're pretty cool.

Like I like had like a message and then like it ended with like, will you go to prom with me?

You know, I was too chicken shit to hand them to her.

So I see her in the hall and I just go, as she's walking out, I like, I'm like,

And I just stood there and I didn't know what to do.

I didn't know what I wanted to be like, no, no, no.

And I actually, I remember it sat there for 10 minutes.

And she was like, oh my God, I'm so sorry.

So we go to prom, we're going to prom together.

So in the, in like the month and a half, leading up to prom, we start hanging out a little bit.

And I'm like, holy shit, I'm going to date this girl.

We're going to like totally like start dating before college.

So spoiler alert, went to college a virgin.

So we start becoming friends, but like I'm definitely given a romantic signal.

And if I could go back and watch the tape,

I would pick up pretty quickly that she wasn't given one back.

As an adult, I can be like, yo, you should respect that.

As a, as a high schooler, I was, I just, I didn't see it.

In my town, we had a prom, but the real party was the after prom.

Yeah, the after party I feel like is always the spot.

So, you know, we leave prom, we go, no one drank cause that's illegal.

And then we got into a limo that we rented.

Me and Ellen are dancing and I was never comfortable with grinding, especially in high school.

Like, why am I like, get your little dicks away from those girls.

So at one point I leave, I think to get a water.
