Okay, let me assure you, I will not look in it.

I know people think it's gigantic, that it's an art form, but it's not.

I'm very interested in clothes, which is what fashion is supposed to be about.

The same stuff comes back all the time, because there's really a very small number of things you can do with shoes.

And that's why you keep saying, the ones that look really new, you can't wear.

There used to be this idea that adults dress differently than children.

So that is very largely not true anymore, especially with men.

I would prefer not to see, you know, 50-year-old men in shorts.

Okay, if you want to see a 50-year-old man in shorts, that should be your personal choice.

When you do see men that are well-dressed, you notice them too much.

I mean, it's not a tragedy, you know, but I think it would perk the place up if people would try to look better.

People are suffused with nostalgia, which is, I think, one of the most destructive things there is in the world.

The odd thing is how many kids, by which I mean people in their 20s, have nostalgia for an era they didn't even live through.

Or nostalgia for 100 years ago, which is what the politicians in the United States have.

Someone keeps saying, well, these people, meaning these politicians, want to bring us back to the 1950s.

Now, I don't have any of these modern devices.

I don't have a smartphone, a cell phone, a computer, a Wi-Fi connection in my apartment.

If you told me I could text on a microwave weapon, I would believe you.

But I am aware of the effect of the internet, which is suffocating.

But everyone asks me all the time, you know, are you afraid of AI?

Not understanding things is helpful to not being worried.

I'm more worried about human intelligence than I am worried about artificial intelligence.

I have found revenge in my own life to be totally satisfying.

Any time I've been able to wreak vengeance on someone, I have found it to be delightful.

It's happening whether you watch it or not.

When Donald Trump entered politics in 2016, I developed a habit I never had in my life, which is the second I would walk in my apartment, I'd turn on the TV.

And someone asked me once, why do you do that?

I said, because I've been out of the apartment for five hours.

Also, in a way, people my age are almost the last generation of people with stuff at all.

They don't have really many clothes, or they may have many clothes, but they all look alike to me.

I'm not suggesting that many people can afford very expensive clothes.

But many people can afford better clothes.

Many people could buy one thing that might cost as much as six of the other things, but it'll last longer, and it will look good.

I stopped going to fashion shows years ago.

Okay, so one thing about fashion shows used to be small.

Someone said to me, these people, they call people friends they've never met.

Well, I'm not saying that they're not really connected.

People get into sex scandals who never had sex.

I don't know if you remember Anthony Weiner.

He was in a sex scandal that ruined his life, but he didn't have sex.

So I thought, it's not worth being in a real sex scandal, but this is really not worth it.

If you can turn it around, he's going to ruin your life.

Okay, so if you could turn it around, Bobby Kennedy, who I used to be friends with before he went insane, Bobby Kennedy is going to have a terrible effect on your life, okay, and everyone's life.

I know it seems like a long time still for Harper's Bazaar.
